What I want to do is load folders of different types of music on the sansa E250. I have disco, slow, popular etc. I do not wish to sync but just load and then be able to go to an album and select the folder and play. When I copy and paste each folder into the music category and view it on my PC everything looks correct. However, when I unhook and start my player the Sansa has taken all the song and put them into different classifications. How can I stop the Sansa from touching and categorizing the music so I can select each folder and play the selected type that I have created???
Heres the answer to your problem. Edit the ID3 Tags on your songs. The player would determine how it would organize the songs on the player depending on the ID3 Tags of the song.

Delete songs and Format (Helps with try to delete BAD TRACKS and folders that will not delete Labeling Unknown Songs: open Windows Media Player and go to library click on artist. The sub folders will be named by the artists and the unknown songs will be in the sub that say's unknown. Click on unknown then right click on the title bar put a check next to artist and album artist. Right click song under artist or album artist or both and type in the name of the artist etc.... This change in your computers Music folders also then sync with your sansa or media player then load songs to it........
Go to settings, usb mode and change it to msc. Then it will show up as a drive and you can drag songs to your music folder. I just updated my firmwareand now it's loading in MTP mode so Windows Media Player can load it etc.

Drag and Drop
Follow these steps to drag-and-drop music to your Sansa e200 player:

2. Select Open device to view files using Windows Explorer on

4. Double-click on the MUSIC folder.
5. Drag and drop music files from your computer to My

Windows Media Player
Before you can create playlist and transfer (or synchronize) them to your
Sansa player, you need to show Windows Media Player where your songs are
located.

There may be possible reasons why your Sansa E250 would display an message on the LCD even when you've downloaded files to it:
(1) The music file type is not supported by the player. Sansa players support only MP3 and WMA files. To determine what file type your have, right click on the file type and it should display the "properties" dialog box. Check if it is MP3 or WMA. For example, iTunes music files will not work with the player, nor will WAV or MIDI files.
(2) Your music files are supported but the bit rate is not within the range that the player supports. Sansa players support MP3 files up to 128 KBPS and WMA files up to 64 KBPS. You may need to use a 3rd party music file editor to convert the files to a supported bit rate
(3) You may have saved your music files in a folder and copied the folder to the player. Your Sansa E250 will not recognize folders. Either save them in the root directory or inside the "Music" folder -- your player's default folder for music files.

The only way I know to delete music files or voice or FM recordings, is straight from the User's manual on the CD:
1. Set the e250 to MSC mode.
2. Plug it in to your computer with the USB connector.
3. Open the Sansa e250 drive in My Computer and browse to the MUSIC folder (or RECORD folder)and delete the files there. (That's where you also add music files, by dragging from other explorer windows.)
To delete (or add) photo and video files, you have to use the Media Converter, which you install from the disk that came with the e250.

why can't you just dial through folders like on your computers?
this resorting to suit the needs of others is crap.
