    Hi there,

Ok, I am an idiot here. I got this copier used, (Though nearly new) Brought it back to the office today, set it up and started running it...worked fantastic for about 500 copies, and now this message. I am mechanically inclined, and have an associate who is as well, but this is a new piece of equipment for me, and I don't know what I am looking at. I am sure your answer will completely solve our problem, but, can you give me a bit more info?

  • Anonymous Sep 19, 2009

Ok, so I have service code 457 on my ricoh 4106...I just got the thing today, but it is used and I know nothing about it. Can anyone give me a bit of guidance as to what I am looking at? THANKS!!!

  • Anonymous Sep 19, 2009

SC it is, and that sounds simple enough....now can you explain that to a dumbell like me...

What is it and how do I clean it???

  • Anonymous Sep 19, 2009

Let me give you a bit of back story here...I bought this copier used, and picked it up today. The previous owner has not had it long, but was sent another by their corporate office, to be all compliant...It was printing beautifully and everything on it looks in great shape, but all of a sudden I got a 1" square printing on all of my copies, and then this message. I am not a computer person, but am moderately proficient with mechanics. I am pretty certain that this is a simple fix, and I don't have the money for a repair, so I am really hoping I can do this myself. How complicated a repair is this?? Is it something a layman can do? I REALLY appreciate your help!!! Darla

  • Anonymous Sep 19, 2009

OK, now I think I might be getting somewhere...One last stupid question...How do I get to it to get it out???
Thank you for being so patient!!

  • Anonymous Sep 19, 2009

Ok, you say "complete steps to open door." I assume this means I am not just popping off the cover like I would to clear a paper jam? What door am I opening and how do I do it.

(Did I mention that I am new at this, and apologize for being a pain in the neck yet???)

Again, thank you so much for your time and patience.

Your solutions have been great, only one problem I have now is I don't know how to open the Ricoh Aficio 4106 for repairs to the belt.

    Thanks for your response!!

If we talk about Image transfer belt cleaning - After a certain point, the transfer belt may be worn or covered in toner.
This belt will occasionally need to be
replaced. Try reseating it first. Remove the imaging drum unit ( the
housing that holds the 4 toners ). The transfer belt is the unit behind
the drum that is inserted along the top edge of the drum cavity. It can
be a little tricky to get it in there correcty. Kind of hold it up
against the top of the cavity as you slide it back towards its holder.

If it looks worn, it will need to be replaced.

Unit position error - Try unplugging the copier for few minutes and then again plug in the copier.Make sure the position of the print head is all set. Check drum and other parts to make sure everything is all set.

If unable to fix, then you need to call Ricoh for replacement or for repair.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

DO ACCEPT THE SOLUTION IF 100% SATISFIED.

    Thanks for your patience!!

It's not difficult but tricky. You need to open your Copier and clean the transfer belt. This is how transfer belt unit looks like :-

    http://www.precisionroller.com/img/J4084...

You need to clean them. If the problem persists, then you need to contact ricoh.

Note - The best product for cleaning transfer belts is
something called Bestine. It is a rubber cement solvent and is found in
art supply stores. Excellent product as it even works on toner
    cartridge drums.

Any further help, let me know.

    Hope i helped you.

    Thanks for your response!!

I can offer a generic solution. You might need to adjust as per your model and i hope it would not be a difficult task.

    1. Make sure that the printer is turned off.

    2. Turn off or unplug any optional devices to the copier.

Warning - Do not touch, drop or place anything on the transfer belt. Touching the surface of the transfer belt or placing items on it may cause damage.

    3. Complete the steps to open the door.

Note - Inside of the Copier may be hot. Allow the copier before touching.

    4. Loosen the thumbscrews on each side of the transfer belt cover.

    5. Lift and remove the transfer cover belt.

    6. Loosen the thumbscrews on each side of the transfer belt.

    7. Pull the transfer belt out.

    8. Clean/ replace the transfer belt.

    9. Align the transfer belt with the opening of the copier.

    10. Slide the transfer belt in it until it is fully seated.

    11. Tighten the transfer belt thumbscrews.

    12. Align and place the transfer belt cover as it was earlier.

    13. Tighten the transfer belt thumbscrews.

    14. Lift and remove the 4 shipping spacers from the transfer belt.

    15. Close the top cover and the front door.

    16. Reconnect the optional devices to the printer.

    17. Turn the optional devices on.

    18. Turn the printer on.

I HAVE A VIDEO NOT FOR YOUR MODEL BUT WOULD HELP YOU IN UNDERSTANDING HOW THE TRANSFER BELT LOOKS LIKE.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Hi marketing292! I will be glad to assist you in your concern.. pls do the following.

Turn the main power of the device off and on again.

If some parts or supplies were replaced recently, try removing them, replacing them again, and then turning the main power of the device on off and on. (If the device is interpreting imperfect parts detection as an error.

The device might be interpreting extreme changes in temperature as an error. Turn off the main power switch, wait for a few minutes to cool it off, and then turn it on.

Note that "main power" means the actual, physical power switch.

If the problem still exist, please contact your local service representative or original point of purchase.

Remove the transfer faceplate. Put the ransfer faceplate back on and
turn the knob tight. While pushing the upper left corner of the
faceplate (pressing on the revolver/drum drawer), tighten the screws.
Tighten up the knob some more until
the drum starts turning too.

Hi I have Ricoh Alficio 2032 copier. There is C545 error message

I'm assuming it's SC545. It pertains to temp not being correct in the fuser. Possibly a thermistor, thermal fuse or lamps are bad. It's one of the codes that need to be troubleshot and replace whatever is needed before clearing the code. This is to prevent further damage to the machine. Thanks Colin
