Swingline SpeedPro 45 electric stapler model S7042141. Will not release staple tray when button pressed.

No red light on, tried it w/and w/o it plugged in. Doesn't look like there are staples jamming it though.

Turn the stapler over, remove the batteries, then remove the black pads and the four screwa under them. Take off the bottom cover and you will see the clear tabs of the cover sticking through the bottom plate. Pust them with a screwdriver toward the center of the stapler while squeezing the cover from the other side. Chances are that you will find the plunger that drives the staples is misaligned. Bend it gently forward or back until it moves without binding. Good Luck!

SOURCE: my Swingline Optima 20 electric stapler will not release the tray to add more staples. How can I fix this?

Most likely a staple is jammed near the discharge end. Get a small screwdriver or pick and try prying out any stuck staples. Usually a little force will pop the release tray out.

How to take apart Swingline SpeedPro 45 stapler? Model S7042141

To disassemble a Swingline SpeedPro 45 stapler (Model S7042141), follow these steps:
  1. Open the stapler and remove any staples that may be inside.
  2. Locate the two small screws on the bottom of the stapler, near the front.
  3. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws. Be sure to keep them in a safe place.
  4. Gently pry apart the two halves of the stapler. You may need to use a flathead screwdriver or other tool to help separate the pieces.
  5. Once the stapler is open, you can access the internal components, including the spring, magazine, and stapling mechanism.
Note: It is important to exercise caution when disassembling any tool or device, as parts may be under tension or spring-loaded. If you are unsure how to proceed, consult the manufacturer's instructions or seek the assistance of a professional.

I can't get the staple magazine on my Swingline Optima 45 to open. Solution?

Hold the base firmly in one hand and pull back the top of the stapler, including the staple tray, to open it for tacking. Other models include a silver tab on the bottom of the stapler, toward the back. Press down on it and the stapler will automatically open enabling to use it to tack up papers.

Swingline Optima 45 Stapler - cannot slide tray back in stapler, no staples jamming

Sometimes the rectangular insert where the staples sit on, gets dislodged. On the underside of channel insert is a spring and when correctly seated is in between the tabs of the bottom piece. If the insert isn't in between the tabs, it sits too high and makes it difficult to open and close the staple tray. The staples will jam.
