I have a 91 integra Gs 5spd suddenly shut off while driving

I have a 91 integra Gs 5spd and yesterday when i was driving it after i stopped at a light and took off again it just shut off on me with out warning or anything i tried starting it back up and it did for couple seconds and shut back off . . i took off the distributor cap and it was fried so i went to buy a new cap and rotor tried starting it again and nothin it jus cranks over . . any help? im not sure if the coil or distributor module fried too. . any help would be appreciated i really need my car running again there might be a short somewhere but cant think of where to begin im goin to school for mechanics jus frustration is kickin in

    no there's no spark at all and the rotor does turn , fuel pressure is fine fuel pump is workin . . just no spark at all

    Do you have any spark? With the cap off does the rotor button turn? If it has spark and does turn is there fuel pressure? If there is fuel pressure and still won't start try releasing fuel cap slowly and see if any pressure comes out.Vapour lock?

Cranking over is a good thing

does the 1991 have a crank angle sensor
chase back to coil if no spark at the plugs

if EFI could be fuel pump or fuel delivery at the injectors

check if the efi has a designated fuse in the engine bay cluster

sounds like you have dirty contacts try some spray you can buy it at auto store.

suggest the first thing you do, is to pull the codes off the ECM, and go from there...more than likely it's a TPI, idle sensor or fuel pump relay thats dirty or sticking thats causeing the problem...
Your local AutoZone can perform the scan and explain the results to you...free of charge.

Well the dist turns doesn't it? If it doesn't the timing belt failrd. If the thing turns and it doesn't have spark ( lay the plug on the head or other grond and crank it ) the plug should fire ( if it doesn't your still changing spark parts or just use a test light to test to see if the coil positive has key on power. The module and the computer control the ground the key turns on the power. If you have spark maybe the fuel pump stopped pumping. ( it's an old car you know) Adding a little gas to the air inlet and cranking it with the spark good it should start and die. The dist turns and it has spark and theres fuel it should run? Not always the timing belt could have skipped and still turn the cam but out of time. Your car in this area can bend the valves and now the engine has no compression ( plug ou tfinger in hole crank should strongly bloww your finger out of the whole ( compression should be 150 PSI or about ) Less than 100 it won't run. If it was running good and on all cylinders right before it quit then the problem is inside of what I just said.. Spark , Fuel . Compression. They run

Reading the other comments you will need to confirm power into the coil.Might also be worth checking your timing mark on bottom pulley against TDC on No1 piston and checking against rotor position that it points to No1 lead.Check your wiring for loose or broken wires into coil-module-distributer.

the main fuse under the hood is probly blown, pop the hood you should see a fuse box near the fender, open it up and look for the fuse that says main on it chances are it's blown.

check your timing. i know it's kind of out there but it's a shot. also, check the plug wires and see if you have spark, if not check the 12 volts to the coil, if there is no power to the coil, there must be a blown fuse. check them as well. Use process of elimination. 12volts on coil-no start...maybe fuel related...and so forth and so on. like i said eliminate all varaibles.
