Ibm thinkvision monitor problem

I would try it with other PC, if it is still doing the same thing and you want to DIY repair, then please read below.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

17 lcd l170 black screen power on but no display

When powered-on, and *NOT* connected to a computer, most ThinkVision LCD monitors will flash, for a few seconds, the IBM ThinkVision "logo", before going into "power-saving" mode. If you don't see that, then it's time to spend about $120, and buy a new 19" (not 17") LCD monitor.

LCD flat panel monitor blinks logo over and over

Sounds like the LCD monitor is not getting a proper input signal. Check your cables between the computer and monitor. Replace them if need. Also check the pins and make sure that none are bent or disfigured.

Try a replacment monitor from a family member or friend. If their monitor works ok.....then your due for a replacment. The are very little user servicable parts inside.

Laptop doesn't see the monitor i attach to it

1st off there is a Fn key, I think Fn + F5? to turn the monitor on. It is a toggle button that toggles between only the monitor or monitor and Laptop screen both or just the laptop screen.

I hope that can help, if not, please tell me what you have tried. As in, does the monitor work on another PC/Laptop?

G'luck

Ibm 15" thinkvision lcd monitor

The entire Thinkvision series of monitors have been plagued by capacitors on the power supply board failing.
This sounds worse then it is. For the most part they only fail well after their warranty period, so it's not a design flaw, just old age.

The repair should not cost alot and would be worth a trip to your local computer/TV repair man.

Hope that helps =)
