SOURCE: i have a napoleon wood fireplace, I just installed

an open fireplace is not going to heat your house only 5 feet in front of the fire place. 75% of the heat goes out your chimney and burns the wood very fast. sorry to say but if you are looking for heat you installed the wrong unit!

The heating element is not coming on on my dryer. Is there a fuse or a switch of some kind oi/on the Dryer that I can check and replace or do I need a whole new Dryer?

this could be one of several things. First, the drier element could be bad. To find this out you will need to perform a continuity test on the element to do this get an electric meter and place the settings on ohms. Disconnect one side of the drier element and place one meter lead on one end of the element and the other lead on the other side of the element if you get a signal the element is good no signal then the element is bad needing replacement. Secondly, there is a high limit switch in the area of the element that is installed to prevent the element from overheating causing a fire. This high limit switch looks like a button bout the size of a dime. really no way to check this switch but if the element is good then more than likely this switch is burnt out given that the drier is receiving the correct voltage which was the third possibilty since the drier runs on 240 v if it isn't receving the proper volts the element may not heat up. As far as cost most of the elements and the hi-limit switches are inexpensive however they are hard to install thats where the cost comes in (labor) I would get an estimate before repairing
Good luck on repairs hope this helps

Element Melted - Turned White Hot/on fire and would not go out

You need to replace the element. Very easy to do. Cut power off at the breaker or unplug the stove FIRST (please!). Remove the two 1/4" screws securing the element to the oven cavity then two wires to the element just unplug. The wires can go either way. Call 1-800-626-2002 or go to the GE Appliance web site for the part. It is a WB44T10011 for the lower (bake) element and WB44T10009 for the top (broil) element.

funny same thing just happened to me and it all seams to be the bottom element of the same ovens around the same year, I bought mine in 99 also, I keep my oven very clean becasue i know the dangers it may cause, I think this is a major problem and it needs to be addressed.
