Therre is a timer that has to be replaced by a qualified technician, either A & E appliance repair or Sears Home Central. I had the same problem with that model Sharp. Good luck.

Sharp microwave r1870 only runs for 59 seconds

If it consistently runs for exactly 59 seconds, and shuts off, it's probably the control panel.

If it runs approximately that length of time, you might have a defective thermal protector on the magnetron, or the magnetron is running too warm for some reason.

My Sharp R-975 Microwave after settin the timer and starting only runs for 59 seconds and stops, I can press start again and it goes for another 59 seconds

This is a problem in one of the damper-related components, either the switch or motor or the damper door may be binding.

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode. If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle.

Sharp models stop after 59 seconds.

See the attached sample drawing for a typical damper assembly.

I'm not sure this is a US model or if parts are still available, so look up Sharp in your country.

The noisy exhaust? That depends on what it sounds like...

It may be that the fan blade assembly is slipping on the shaft.

The solution is to take the oven out of the wall (instructions here) and remove the exhaust fan assembly from the oven.

Then you can slide the blade assembly partly off the shaft, clean the shaft with high grade alcohol (like 70% or better isopropyl) then apply a few drops of super glue to the shaft (not near the bearings) and slide the blade assembly back on.

Let it set for about half an hour before you reisntall it. Also, you may want to test it before puttting the oven back into the wall.

If you have a different problem with your fan, please note that FixYa is not notifying us Experts when Clarification Requests are answered.

So if you need more help, please post a NEW question, and please include your brand name and the full model number from the tag in or on the unit.

Amana OTR Convection Microwave runs 59 seconds and shuts off

This sounds like either a thermistor or a damper switch/motor problem.
Amana's technical support line is 866-426-2621. This is the commercial side but they should be able to get you in touch with the domestic side.

This is a problem in one of the damper-related components, most likely the switch, but it may also be the motor or the damper door.
