Dell monitor problem

I am not sure how to even start this question. I have a dell 17 inch lcd monitor. A couple of days ago it just blinked and now looks like it only has 16 colors on the screen. Everything is non-detailed and nasty looking. I hooked it up to 2 other systems with the same results. What happened and can I fix it? Thanks

No, tried that. The adapter is set to true color. Even if I uninstall the video card and monitor and re-install them it still looks like crap. Not sure but wondering if the inverter might have something to do with it?

mcdevito75 here, If the monitor is under warantee, use it for replacement, if not you"ll need another Monitor, does not have to be Dell or even 17" inch, of course it must be a monitor for a computer.

Dell E173FPf 17 vertical line problem

Yes, but the cost is not worth it. If you get it apart you will no doubt find a couple of bulging capacitors. Dell site has the disassembly instructions.

Dell LCD Monor light keeps blinking green, screen is black cannot stop blinking unless unplugged from power source but upon plugging back in monitor starts blinking green again

Hello,
Your monitor has a bad power supply board. This happens often on LCD monitors because of the heat buildup in them. If you can solder them go to our web site at:
www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm We have a step by step dis-assembly and repair guide for your monitor. There are several versions of the E173FP some end in b , f, or c so be sure to check your monitor.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

Dell Blinking Power Light

Hi There,
I have worked on several of the Dell 17" and that is almost always the Capacitor problem.

The caps have died inside, and they can be replaced. If you have basic electronics skills, you can go in, order replacement caps, and unsolder and resolder. If you can't do it yourself, you can take it into a shop.

If you can get inside the frame of the monitor, and disassemble, you can find the caps by seeing a bulge on top, or even a rusty looking material on the top. Be VERY careful around the high voltage section if you do go inside.

Here is a link to the Cap plague that explains what happens in detail. But I repair these all the time with that symptom.

Monitor went black

Same with mine a couple days ago. I've been told the contacts have oxidized and need to be cleaned. It was going to cost about $80 to fix and no guarantee how long it would last so I just bought a new monitor.

That sounds like the backlight inverter board. Check ebay for the board or a repair kit for it.

Half Dead Monitor

Dear
This problem is caused by keyboard switches which are bad quality they are easy to replace, so if you are able to work with solder you can finish replacement in 15min.
Good luck.
