You may have the Miele problem. The line that drains the fan housing gets plugged with glop. You just take it out and clean it.

This happens every year or two. Take off the outside front panel to access the hose that runs from the bottom of the fan down to the dispenser, and lets the water drain out through it to the interior. Clean out that hose as well as you can. Replace. This is an idiotic problem that Miele should have a permanent fix for. Grrrr.

The hose cleans out quickly, the problem is getting the front back on. 4 hands make it easier. It slips on when you start close to vertical, then slip in in and down. For putting the screws back in, you might have to use a micro screwdriver to re-align the little clips on the door panel. (You will see what I mean when you do it!) This costs a service call ($100, give or take) to call for service. It can be done at home with no added parts. I think it applies to all Miele dishwashers, and I have now done it several times. As I said before, this is a design fault and should not be necessary!

If you have a helper to help contain the mess, you can spray water into the fan area (best is backward through the hose, but try all directions) and catch the runoff. We have done this and it catches a lot of gunk.muck and slop.

Doggone design sucks on an otherwise nice machine!!

SOURCE: Miele G868 dishwasher - leaks from front panel air vent

Hi all,

I have had the same problem. Here is what I've done. Take the door apart (a whole bunch of screws on the side of the door). The front panel will come off and you will see a rubber tube. Take it off and blow it out. Then take the blower out (you need to unscrew the inside of the blower). Take apart the blower and clean it out.

Good luck.

SOURCE: leaking from the bottom a lot, immediately when I start the cycle

I found this post on another website. Hope it helps:

"Six torx screws securing the fine mesh filter just below the lower spray arm. Make sure they're all tight. Bit size is T 20 also, check for damage to the mesh screen. What happens when those screws are loose is water pressure seeps under and creates a tidal wave sort of effect by spraying water forward instead of thru spray arm...long shot, but I've seen it 50 times."

SOURCE: My Frigidaire refrigerator water dispenser

lift up & out on the drip tray (it will come out) after removing it you will see 3 screw. unscrew the screws & lift the face plate of the despenser & it will come off. Be careful though. There is a ribbon wire connected to the back of the face plate. make sure to dissconect the ribbon wire from the control board not the back of the face plate (its alot harder to reconnect to the face plate & pretty simle to reconnect to the control board).

I had a similar problem with a Whirlpool AWZ 8578 Tumble Dryer. The solution was to clean the fluff out of the rubber grommet in the drain hole under the left front of the condenser. Then the water from the condenser could run into the collection container underneath.

Miele dishwasher door leaks through the fan on front of door

That is supposed to be open only during drying. You most likely have a problem with that air vent opening and closing properly.

Miele G2020 leaking 2 spots help

Dishwasher Not Leveled

This is a very common reason for a leaking dishwasher especially if this was a new installation. The framing in a dishwasher is made up of mostly thin sheet metal, so if it is not sitting flat and level things can get distorted very easily.f3a0b0dc-c8b0-4678-bccb-f94392039827.gif

Door Seal

This is not very common in most dishwashers. To check this look for rips and distortion of the seal. If it is ripped or distorted you will need to replace.

Dispenser Seal

This is a more common place for a leak to develop. This is easy to check, remove the front panel and carefully inspect around the seal for water dripping or stainage. If any is found replace the dispenser gasket.

Water Inlet Valve

Usually it is the connection to the water inlet valve that ends up leaking. Check this connection ( there is usually some sort of adaptor between the valve and supply hose) for leaks. Check the connection on the back of the water inlet valve also. Ocassionaly a water inlet valve will leak around the solenoid in this case replace the water inlet valve.

Drain / Circulating Pump

Some dishwashers have separate drain and circulating pumps Some use one pump to serve both purposes. In either case you will need to check the housings for leaks along with all the connections. Some dishwashers have a seal that leaks down into the pump . This is easy and inexpensive to replace. Follow the tutorial on replacing the pump.

Door Latch

The door latch can become loose or misalinged. Check both the striker and the latch. To adjust the latch you will need to remove the front panel and adjust switch until properly aligned.

Door Hinges

They can cause problems, but this usually only happens from opening a heavy load of dishes on the door. Occassionaly a broken spring or cable occurs. You will need to remove the tow kick and maybe the front panel to inspect.

Miele g665 leaking water from turbothermic vent

I had this happen too. There is a rubber venting tube which runs from the vent on the door to the rinse/powder release pods. This clogs up and the water then comes out when the door opens. If you take off the front panel of the machine (screws are on the sides) it is easy to take off and clean out by running hot water through it, also clean out the line through the release pods .. problem should be solved.

I have a Miele W4840 front load washer and there is water leaking from the door. I've checked the seal and it doesn't seem to be damaged, but there is a definite leak. Please advise.

first make sure your detergent drawer is not popping open. water will run out from beneath the drawer, run over to the top of the door, run down the door, and then straight down to the floor. If you are not leaking out of the detergent drawer, the next thing down is the bottom of the glass door. look at the glass where it contacts the door seal at the bottom. It should be clean and smooth. Most likely you will find lint, hair, and soap residue. that needs to be cleaned off. any surface imperfections will cause a slow drip or trickle of water to come out of the lowest part of the door. If that is fine, and it is still leaking, open the cover to the drain pump on the bottom right of the front of the machine. Make sure that drain pump filter is tight. run the machine with that little drain access door open and see if you are leaking from there. If none of the above helps, and you are still getting water leaking from the door, miele has designed a new clamping ring for the door seal. Call them and make arrangements to have it replaced.

The check drain and check inlet lights are flashing constantly on my miele w 2240 washing machine

I have a Miele W502.
Both lights flashing usually is caused by a water leak into the case of the machine which trips the float switch in the base. You can reset this by tipping the machine forwards at 45 degrees and allowing the water to drain out on to the floor. It will reset everything but if you still have a leak it will trip ou again due to the float switch.

I had the same problem with the 2 red lights flashing, which was fixed by emptying the float tray as above.
On further investigation I found that the door seal had rubbed on itself at the 6 o'clock position and had worn a small hole which was causing the water leak.

To replace or repair the Door Seal you will need to remove the front panel.

1. Turn power off and unplug machine after opening door.

2. Remove the front panel lower kick plate by inserting a thin ruler between the kick plate and front panel about 4 inches from each end and lever down until it releases.

3. Remove the 2 screws at the door lock switch on the front panel.

4. With the kick plate removed you will see 2 screws at each lower edge of the front panel, remove these 4 screws.

5. Remove the spring loaded band from around the edge of the door seal facing you and after that release the seal from the front panel and push in.

6. Remove the hex bolt from the 6 o'clock position just below the door seal on the front panel.

7. You should now be able to lower the front panel out of the locating pins and remove it.

8. With front panel removed you will be able to remove the tensioning band which holds the door seal in place around the drum by undoing the screw at the right hand side of the band at the 3 o'clock position. It is accessible from above with a long bladed screwdriver. Take note of how far it is tensioned on the thread of the screw and try not to undo it all the way or you may lose the nut on the band.

9. Once you have removed the band, slip the seal off the drum and slide the water outlet to the seal from the dispenser.

10. When you replace the seal do not do the tensioning band up too tightly or you will hear it squeak when you spin the drum in either direction.

11.Reassembly is the reverse of removal, taking care to put the door manual release strap through the inner slot in the front panel.

I repaired my door seal with Silicone Sealant and loose weave fabric tape after rubbing it clean with alcohol as i didn't want to pay $100 for a new seal from Miele.

Following the wash cycle with my Miele G464SC

sounds like you mean when the unit is running you are getting water dripping from the bottom of the door panel. if you remove the door panel at the bottom where the door hinges you will find an overflow tray which runs the width of the door. This is probably blocked with food deposits.

If not you may be using too much detergent. try running with no detergent and see if there are any leaks.if you open the door mid cycle the water level shouldn't be any higher than the bottom spray arm. hope this helps

Leaking water out of front vent when opened

Hi jpkenney, The vent can be replaced. If you open the door and look around the outside of the door, you will see the stainless screws that hold the top & bottom parts of the door on.( the top control section is separate to the rest of the door). Just undo the screws & there you have it. The vent can be replaced easily. Hope this helps.....goodluck.
