If you have installed windows media player, you need a dvd codec (software to make your dvd drive uncypher the data) i recommend cole2k media pack. download it and install and enjoy your dvds.

using powerdvd will work, if that link on rapidshare comes with a keygen or crack, other than that, with a internet connection it will eventually timeout and ask for a key, even if you use windows media player. be sure you know what your doing when downloading copyrighted software or use a torrent site instead of using a highly monitored site like rapidshare.

Is windows media player able to play dvds? how daes it work? my laptop media can not play dvds.. i m feeling tired of it..

You may need codecs in order to play most DVD videos and other formats like DivX. Use this codec pack here. Select the Media Player Classic as the application while you were asked to provide it. K-Lite After that both of your players are ready to play DVDs (its better to have Media Player 11 in your system for a better experience) Enjoy your movie!

Need to unlock laptop DVD

You can change the region code for your DVD player but not more than 4 times.
There are firnware updates to change DVDs to region free, if you are not carefull you can screw up your DVD drive.
Suggest you install a program to allow you to play any DVDs regardless of which region the DVDs were created for.
Go to www.dvdidle.com for their Region-Free program

I was removing some programs from my computer and accidentally removed some that I needed. I can use my recovery disc (Recover XP with service pack 1) because I removed the program that plays DVDs. How do...

I suggest you try using SYSTEM RESTORE first

start, programs, accessories, system tools, system restore.

select restore to an earlier time (or similar) then select the date you want to restore to. Select a date/time PRIOR to when you deleted the program you want.

This may restore your system. it does not restore data or files that were deleted though..

Dvd player

Hi Zekeo, To play DVDs you need a couple of things, a drive capable of reading your DVDs, a program to play them with and the correct Codec (compression/decompression) software to tell the program how to *read* the DVD. The ?no decoder found? error would tend to indicate you don?t have a program capable of playing DVDs installed or its not installed correctly. What program are you trying to play DVDs with? The free versions of Real Player and the newer versions of Media Player will work for the most part (I?ve had more success with Real) but they sometimes have problems decompressing the DVD in order to play it. In that case they typically will try to go to their respective web sites to update themselves and hopefully get the software they need. My experience with these programs is that if they are up to date and have the latest Codec?s they can generally play most N. American commercial DVDs, however, I have been let down at the wrong times by Media Player and occasionally by Real as well Current version of free Real Player (make sure your PC meets the requirements first): http://www.real.com/realcom/R?href=http%3A%2F%2Fforms.real.com%2Freal%2Frealone%2Frealone.html%3Ftype%3Drp10_dlp_1%26bb%3Dtrue%26pcode%3Drn%26opage%3Dreal_superpass%26src%3Drealhome_bb_0_3_1_0_0_1_0%2Creal_superpass%26pageregion%3Dright_bottom_text&pageid=unagi.8083642&pageregion=right_bottom_text&src=realhome_bb_0_3_1_0_0_1_0%2Creal_superpass&pcode=rn&opage=real_superpass Generally I prefer to rely on InterVideo?s WinDVD, for about $40 it?s been a great investment for me: http://www.google.com/search?q=freeware+dvd+player+software&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a Let us know if you have any other question on this topic and please don?t forget to rate the posting.
