LG WM1814CW Front Load Washer Logo

UE Code on WM0642HW washer We have an LG WM0642HW washer. It worked great for two years, but then I discovered a hole in the drum, so I had it replaced. Now every third load shows the UE code. We NEVER saw this before. I have had three different companies come out to fix this, and they all say it is fixed, but it is not. We have tried: Leveling the machine (OK) Using smaller and larger loads Replacing both controller boards Replacing the 3 sensors or balancers near the drum. Draining the water from the trap door. The machine is under a service agreement, and the company has probably spent $1000. I have tried the suggestions made for others with the same problem. The one thing that seems to fix the problem so I can get the load done is to jiggle the drum.

LG top load washer has a 'UE' Error.

Question edited for clarity

An LG washer displaying the UE or uE error code means that the load in the washer is unbalanced. ... When the uE error code is displayed, it means that the washer is trying to resolve the issue. The washer will fill with water to try to balance the load. It will then drain and try to spin again.

UE Error Code

The UE error code (Unbalanced Error) displays when you wash items that cause the machine to shake badly during the spin cycle, if possible wash and drain the items only, then open the door and stack the items evenly on both sides of the drum in order to balance it, now select the spin cycle.

My WM1832CW front load machine consistently gives me the UE error code during the spin cycle regardless of the contents or size of the load. Its a direct drive system - so what could be the problem?

bad imbalance sensor. silly little contraption that sticks off the back of the drum. It is a plastic lever with a light sensor attached to the end. there is a hole and a bb that sits in the hole. when the load gets imbalanced, the bb gets knocked out of the hole and the light shines through the hole. the light sensor relays the error to the computer and it displays UE. I took the sensor apart, and put a piece of tape over the hole so the light cant shine through anymore. No more UE code. LG parts are very hard to find. I dont mess with them, but it was my neighbors machine. This will get them by until they can buy a new washer. good luck.

I have a LG WM1814CW front load washer. I get UE when it trys to go on spin cycle. I re-arranged the load and still comes up UE. I also tried a cycle without anything in the washer and still the same...

The UE error code is nothing to worry about. It indicates an "unbalanced error"¬-your washer's way of saying that the drum is not spinning is a smooth rotation. It could be as simple as rearranging the load in the drum (click image for zoom). Here's why:

1) Small loads. Your washer operates better when the weight of the load is evenly distributed across the drum, but that is not always possible with small loads.
2) Mixed fabric loads. For example, if you're washing jeans and t-shirts, the jeans could be on one side and the t-shirts on the other, causing the unbalance. Try rearranging the items and spin again.
3) Large single items. Items like sheets, blankets and comforters tend not to spread out evenly, causing unbalance when the drum spins. Rearrange the item and start the spin cycle over.
4) Spin Sense Option. If your washer has the Spin Sense Option, it may try to adjust the load on its own. If that happens, the washer would slow down and tumble a few times slowly during the spin cycle and then speed up until the problem is resolved.

BRand new installation of 1 year old machine we

hi,

I am a novice at front loaders but it sounds like it needs new suspension parts, namely springs, sounds like the machine had a hard life before you got it. since its used anyways it cant hurt to take the back off and see and study how it works and how the drums suspension works. you can try to find the springs at an appliance store. Im not sure if you can get springs directly from LG. LG's are a pretty good name brand, probably worth fixing..
good luck!

"UE" error code LG washer wm0642hw

This is an Imbalance code. Your issue may be with:

  • The load is too small
  • The appliance is tilted
  • Laundry is gathered to one side
  • Non-distributed things are put into the drum
Try adjusting the load size, and make sure the unit is level.

Ue error code on the display

For "ue" an unbalanced load is sensed three times, re-adjust your load in the machine.

For e1, it could be a water sensor problem. Check to see if the inlet valve is okay and not clogged, water shd be in good pressure. If this is okay, open up behind after taking the plug off the wall. There is a thin tube coming from the switch area to the outlet pump area; disconnect this from the top carefully and blow into it, it should be free; if it is clogged you will hav a water level problem. Unblock and refit carefully.

My washer shows UE code

UE code is an "unbalance error". Believe it or not, it is possible to unbalance a front load style washing machine. Usually caused by trying to wash smaller loads where the drum spins to try to distribute the weight evenly. With less laundry, you cannot distribute enough weight evenly around the drum and sometimes will cause an unbalanced load. If your problem is not a simple loading issue, it could be the balance sensor, loose wiring, or possibly the main control board. I hope this helps.
