Your disk could be scratched. You can try and resurface it. You may try to clean the disk as well. Also if a burned the DVD some players will not play every format. Are you getting the same response from several DVD's? If so then I recommend getting a good DVD lens cleaner disk and running it through a time or two or even three if it has been a while since it has been cleaned. Good luck.
