SOURCE: keypad garage door opener will not operate

what keypad are you using with new opener? Frequency has changed. can't use old one. you probably never needed to change things; just needed to follow proper coding procedures.

SOURCE: Just installed a new genie garage door opener.

Change the sensor and make sure the magnet comes close enough to activate it. Sometimes I have even changed the magnetic ones for real switches too.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the info. Interesting you mention a magnet. I don't see one unless its built into the carriage."

It sounds like the logic board has quit working on the one opener. If you have had lightning or power surges you might remove the logic board and check for loose, burnt or missing traces on the printed circuit.

I have a Craftsman 13953919 door opener. My garage door opens during the day when I am not home. The alarm company calls me to let me know, and the police have been by twice. Nothing is stolen, so I can...

Here are some things to check.

Look at the LED light next to the SMART/LEARN button on rear of the motor unit. You may need to remove a light lens cover in order to see it. If the light is flashing rapidly this means you have a stuck button on one of your remote controls. Take the batteries out of each remote control. When you remove the batteries from the bad remote, the light will stop flashing. This remote needs to be replaced.

If one of your neighbors remote controls is inadvertently programmed into your receiver, you door will open when their remote is activated. If this happens you will need to clear out your receiver and reprogram your remote controls. Press and hold the smart/learn button for 6 seconds or until you see the small LED light near the button turn itself off. If the above steps have been followed and the symptoms continue, there may be an electronic short in either the wall control button or the receiver logic board. In this case, remove the wall control wires from terminals 1 and 2 on the motor unit. Should the symptoms persist after the wires are removed, replace the receiver logic board. If the symptoms stop with the wall control wires removed from the motor unit, replace the wall control button, and the wires leading to the wall control button.

Our remotes do not work when the garage door is closed, but they do work to shut the garage door when it is open. help

There are two possibilities here. One is the remotes batteries are weak and need to be replaced. The other is the receiver is going bad. If new batteries don't increase the range of the remotes then you will need to replace the logic board.
