Can you please provide more detail on the program you are downloading, the model of drive, and model of computer?
On the face of it, the program seems to be saying it is not compatible with the model of drive you have plugged in, or that the drive has been reformatted in a way that is not compatible.
Does the drive show up in the File Explorer / Finder of the machine?

after comment : ok, if you can drag and drop files onto it, then That means it is operational, and recognized by the system. The next question is why you can’t install the Seagate Desktop software. Where did you get the software from? Try going to Seagate Support and looking up your drive model, and doing a fresh download of the software they have for that model. Alternatively, there are other backup software packages available, Acronis, Aoemi, EaseUS, and others. You can find reliable downloads of utility software at downloads.com (CNET) or look for reviews from PcWorld or PCMagazine for their recommendations of the best paid and free backup software

SOURCE: Wd and Seagate usb hard drives attached to computer Will not boot when WD usb hd on Seagate makes no difference

Check the drive letter assignment for the disks, and make sure it is not the C: driver.
I am assuming you can boot and then plug the disk, right?
So use the Disk Manager to check the driver letter, and change it if it is conflicting with another disk.

How to connect my Seagate back up plus hardrie to PC

your frustration is from not understanding that you have 2 different computers in operation and so you have to install the driver for the hard drive on each computer and to ensure that it is compatible with each one
just it plugs in and pays on one doesn't mean that it will automatically do so on any other computer that you attach it to
on the pc google the manufacturer web site for the hard drive and down load the driver for it
then go to properties and click on the compatibility tab and click the box and high light the win os you have running , apply and ok

Seagate backup plus is beeping and will not pull up on computer??

Troubleshooter: Seagate Manager does not see my Seagate FreeAgent drive Troubleshooting in case the Seagate Manager cannot detect the FreeAgent drive.
Sometimes, Seagate Manager (the software bundled with newer FreeAgent drives) does not see the drive.
This article focuses on drives that can be seen in Windows, but are not seen in the software.
If you are using Windows 8, please note that Seagate Manager is not supported in Windows 8, so you will need to use a different backup solution.

If the drive is not detected in Windows 7/Vista/XP, then use the external drive troubleshooters to try to resolve the non-detection issue.
After connecting the FreeAgent drive, please give it up to 1 minute to display in the middle of the main screen in Seagate Manager.
208575-1.jpg
If the drive does not display, open My Computer (Computer for Vista) and confirm the drive is listed there. The drive should be listed as "FreeAgent Drive". If you have formatted or renamed the drive, then it will show up with the name you provided.
If the drive does not display in My Computer (Computer for Vista), use the External Drive Troubleshooter to help resolve that issue before continuing.
If the drive is detected in Windows, check if the Seagate service is running.
  1. Right-click on the My Computer (Computer for Vista) icon.
  2. Choose Manage.
  3. In the Computer Management window, click Services and Applications.
  4. Open the Services area.

    208575-2.jpg
  5. Scroll down the Seagate Service (they are listed alphabetically).
  6. The Seagate service should display Started in the Status column.
If it does not, right-click on the service and choose START.
  7. If the service reports as Disabled, enable it to start automatically.
To do this, right-click on the service. A Status Type drop-down menu will appear. Click on the General tab. Select Automatic and click OK.
    208575-3.jpg
  8. Reboot the computer.
  9. If the service fails to start after you reboot with these settings, then check the logs of your Antivirus or Antispyware software to confirm they are not restricting the startup of this service, as some aggressive protection programs can prevent services from starting until you approve them. So, you may need to approve this program specifically in the Antivirus/Antispyware software. Please contact your anti-virus software support for help.
  10. If the service will not start or is working already, uninstall the software (for steps on uninstalling the software, see this article).
  11. Once the software is uninstalled, reboot the computer.
  12. Then reinstall the software by opening the InstallSeagateManager.EXE file on the FreeAgent drive. If you have removed the software from the drive, it can be downloaded from the download center.
  13. If the drive is still not seen by the computer, connect the drive to other USB ports on the computer.
Some eSATA cards block the drive's identity and prevent it from working. Updates have been made to Seagate Manager and to some vendors' eSATA drivers to help this issue. See our eSATA tips article for details.
  14. If the drive still does not display after these steps, please contact Technical Support.

Seagate dashboard wont recognise drive

Make sure your computer has found it and it's supposed to be working fine then replace the USB cable, try another port, uninstall the harware from windows, then unplug the drive and reinstall you may want to try the previous version of software if you can. Also check firmware updates and double check correct windows / OS and bit level.

I need to download some pictures from my camera, Cannon Power shot A720

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
