Open Question

Hello...I have a Roland vp 540....my magenta and yellow has stop working. Nonjnk at all. Put through cleaning cycles, black and cyan show perfect test prints...but no magenta and yellow...sucked in with syringe into dampeners..still no colors..I am guess bad heads? Any ideas?

the problem is not with the printer but it is with the ink that might be damaged, this is located inside the printer

Hello, this is Harry from www.BusinessSpread.co.uk.
We had the exact same problem when printing, we used 3 different 78 colour ink cartages and they all said 100% full but did not work. We then had a look at the dates on the box and they were all expired so when buying ink from anywhere even PC world or Curry’s always look at the expiry date.
Today I went to PC world and purchased a new 78 ink which said expires July 2011 and it works perfectly fine.

you should have to use the syringe method to **** the ink before anything, then make a powerful cleaning, test, you may have to do it several cleanings and should be solved.

Either the ink you are using is not going to give the color you want, or you have print heads that are blocked.

Cyan and Magenta does not print on the right side of the paper. Toner indicator shows three quarter of the cartridge to be full. Yellow and black prints are perfect.
I have worked/ serviced similar Laserjet Color Printer with same issue.
Actually, prints with faded colors or different colors are due the the dust/ toner dust accumulated on the optics (mirrors and lenses) inside the printer, which refect the laser beams to form prints. For instance, red color is formed by a mix of yellow and magenta toners. The color is replaced by yellow due the the partial or complete blocking of the image laser beam for magenta as the mirrors which reflect laser beam get covered with dust and toner (which partially blocks the laser beams). Hence the image is not produced properly. This needs professional hands for servicing and cleaning of the optics inside the printer. Note that first magenta goes off, followed by yellow, then cyan and lastly black. This is due to the mirrors placement inside the printer. Magenta is the last one facing upwards at 45 degrees angle and gets most of the dust and goes off first.

Rest assure that the printer requires ONLY CLEANING OF THE MIRRORS, which are inside the printer. So, it is advised that you get the printer serviced by any printer repair/ service professional. (Please note that the mirrors, lenses and scanner assembly inside such printers is extremely complex and can get damaged very easily especially the mirrors).

I replaced an ink cartridge because the printer stopped working and showed a message that the old cartridge is empty. However after putting the new one in but the printer still refuses to work and shows...
maybe the cartridge is wrong, release it and clean the electrical contacts, put them again one by one, if notting happen, try this
Solution As the printer operates, it moves ink from the ink cartridges into a printhead reservoir. The printer does not deliver a message when an ink cartridge goes empty, because it still has ink in the reservoir. The printer continues printing until the ink level in the reservoir falls to a first trigger point - then a message appears advising the printer owner to Replace Cartridges Soon . At this point, other cartridges that are empty but have not reached the trigger point are also mentioned in the message, to save trips to the retailer. After the first trigger point, the printer can continue printing until ink levels in the reservoir reach a second trigger point. At the second trigger point there is only enough ink left to perform vital servicing tasks, and a new message appears, saying Ink Cartridges Empty . The options offered depend on the usable inks remaining. If no options are offered, the cartridges indicated must be replaced before printing can continue. The Ink Cartridges Empty options are described in the table below: Ink colors out Option Print mode possible All Cancel None Black

I recently installed new black ink cartridge. Since doing so, the colors on anything printed are incorrect. For instance, anything red prints as pink. Anything deep yellow prints as a gold. MY...
Hi maryryherd - yes the C64 is in the list - don't know why you couldn't see it.

The inkjet colour system can be quite confusing. The colours in the cartridges are cyan, magenta and yellow, plus black. Other colours require a mixture of these basic ones. For example, to produce "red" requires a mixture of magenta and yellow. Your problem sounds like you are getting insufficient yellow, and maybe insufficient black.

Have you tried a cleaning cycle? If not, try one (right click the little printer icon in the bottom right corner of the screen and select head clean). Now run a nozzle check (right click the little printer icon in the bottom right corner of the screen and select nozzle check). Are all the 3 colour bands plus black printed OK. If not, try up to three cleaning cycles. If ink is now flowing pretty well, but not yet perfectly, don't carry out any more cleaning cycles. Just leave the printer for 24 hours (to allow any air in the print head to disperse). Then repeat the cleaning cycle/wait process. It may take a while to restore a perfect nozzle check print. If these actions produce no positive results, report back with a new comment.

sounds lke your yellow nozzle not working properly...had same issue on lexmark printer, ended up geting this epson...learnt from my mistakes...perhaps it ran dry? or you left the yellow cartridge out longer than the rest....only you might know what happened

No Magenta and No yellow
If you have really already run the cleaning cycle more than 20 times you should have get an error 46 which means that the printer cant clean anymore! So if not, use original brother inkcarts and do the the cleaning twice. If there is no block on the testsheet, the printhead is crashed. You cant fix it anymore.
