Use the exposure mode to metered manual mode using the [mode] button until the [M] is selected on the far right of the LCD screen.
The [M} is to the right of the [Tv] and [Av] selections.

Also, there is a switch on the camera body where the lens is attached... switch from AF to MF (UP position) (AutoFocus to ManualFocus).

The meter inthe viewfinder will continue to work so that tou can use the built-in meter to assist in your manual configfuration.

I cannot change my aperture priority mode in manual when I try, I get "L"

In aperture mode TA, you only can change the aperture manualy. The camera will try to set everything else, like shutter speed and ISO, according to what the camera thinks is the best. Will look at the scene and focal length. The amount of light should be enough according to you ISO setting.
In manual, M you have to do everything yourself. You can get under or over exposed pictures. When you choose "wrong" settings. But what is wrong? You decide what part of the photo has to be correct, even when the rest is to dark or to light. It could be you did setup the camera to warn you when over or under exposure occurs. I'm not that familiar with the canon DSLRs to be 100% sure, but I would look there.
again, aperture mode is not a manual mode and the camera needs enough light so it can manoeuvre in the settings you made.

Can Film Camera lenses and Flash be used for Digital Camera Body

If u used to have a Pentax camera, i would recommend you buying a Pentax DSLR, because Pentax film lenses still works on Pentax DSLR. I still use some of my prime lenses on my K10D.

I BOUGHT A PENTAX K10D THAT CAME WITH A VERY NICE AUTO ZOOM LENS. I OWN SEVERAL OLDER PENTAX LENSES THAT I USED ON MY K1000 CAMERA AND I WANT TO USE THEM ON THE K10D. I CANNOT FIGURE OUT THE SETTINGS THAT...

Hello,

I don't own a K10D, but I do own a K100D which I have successfully used both manual focus & auto-focus lenses from my old Pentax stash!

1) If it is a manual focus lens, you need to turn off Autofocus on the body of your K10D. On my K100D, there is a switch on the side of the lens mount that says [-MF or -AF]. "-MF" is manual focus mode & "-AF" is autofocus mode. Since your lens doesn't have autofocus capability, turn it to the "-MF" mode.

Also . . . When I press "Menu" and go to "Custom Setting", I change two settings . . .

1) I change "Using aperture ring" to "Permitted". This allows you to use manual lenses (M lenses) that do not have an auto(exposure) setting, and also lets you use Auto lenses (A, KA, KA2, FA, etc.) in either the Auto or manual aperture setting modes.

2) I change "Fl with S lens used" so that even with a manual focus lens, although I don't have autofocus capability, my K100D beeps and shows a little red square in the viewfinder when I have successfully focused manually!

The K10D should have the same options.

This should get you up and running!

I have had a load of fun with my old lens on my new digital Pentax!

Take care & Happy Imaging!
