Go to this site

http://housecall65.trendmicro.com/

and run a full scan - this will remove most of the viruses on your computer. Should help speed it up as well.

Once thats done, install AVG Free and run a full scan

Install for AVG ->http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html

Once AVG is done scanning, i'd also install and run SpyBot S&D to remove any other infections that AVG/HouseCall may have missed.

Install for SpyBot S&D -> http://download.cnet.com/Spybot-Search-amp-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html

After HouseCall, AVG and SpyBot have ran, you should be all set! If you can't get to any IE pages, and are posting this from a different computer, see below on how to restore your IE settings...

Being that you were able to get to this site to post, i can assumeIf you can't seem to get to the site, which happens w/ some viruses, try restoring your internet back to its original state. There's steps on how to do that below as well.

  1. 1: Open up the internet window, by clicking on the "blue e" on your desktop, or by going to the Start Menu, All programs, internet Explorer
  2. Step 3 my computer is very slow and there is virus what l - blue-e-2_thumb.jpg From the Start Menu If the "blue E" is not in fact on your desktop then refer to the picture in this step.
  3. Step 4 Menu Bar 2: Once the internet is open, you will then want to go to the "Tools" Menu, in the internet window. If you are using internet explorer 7 the tools menu is on what is called the Menu bar, and this menu bar generally is in the upper left hand corner.

    Picture is attached.
  4. Step 5 internetoptions_thumb.jpg Internet options selection 3: Once you click the Tools Menu, then select, internet options. Image below attached, then click on internet options to go into the internet options dialog box.
  5. Step 6 my computer is very slow and there is virus what l - ioptionsdialogbox_thumb.jpghow.com/images/GlobalPhoto/Articles/2101019/ioptionsdialogbox_Full.jpg">ioptionsdialogbox_thumb.jpg Advanced Tab 4: Once you have selected the internet options click on the advanced tab all the way to the right, picture attached. Once you have selected, advanced at the bottom right there is an option there to RESET, this will restore the default settings, of your internet explorer Browser.
  6. Step 7 5: Reboot machine.

Also, another thing to consider is a system restore, if your computer is so bad that the above isn't working. For XP, system restore works wonders. See below for instructions on how to complete a system restore.

1.
Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore.
2.
On the Welcome screen, click Restore my computer to an earlier time, and then click Next.
3.
On the Selecmy computer is very slow and there is virus what l - sysrest2.jpgPoint page, select the date from the calendar that shows the point you'd like to restore to, as shown in Figure 2, and then click Next.
sysrest2.jpg
Figure 2
4.
On the Confirm Restore Point Selection page, verify that the correct restore point is chosen, and then close any open programs.
5.
Click Next if you are ready to proceed or click Back to change the restore point.
6.
The computer will shut down automatically and reboot. On reboot, you'll see the Restoration Complete page, and then click OK.
After reviewing the stability of your system, you can choose another restore point or undo this restoration. Just open System Restore and make the appropriate choice. After you use System Restore, you'll have an additional task, Undo my last restoration, on the System Restore Welcome page. Remember that you'll have to reinstall any programs that were installed after the restore point.
If System Restore doesn't work in Normal Mode, it might work in Safe Mode. To use System Restore in Safe Mode, press the F8 key during reboot and choose Safe Mode. When your computer starts in either Safe Mode or Normal Mode, System Restore can be used to capture a working previous state. System Restore can't be opened unless the system is bootable into one of these modes.

...ok, im running out of breath here!! Hope all this helps - good luck!!

Slow pc. may have virus?

Do you have an anti virus installed in your computer? If you have one, then run an anti-virus scan in your computer.

The problem seems virus related.

If your anti virus can't fix the problem, then you need to clean reinstall the whole operating system to get rid of the virus.

I hope this helps!

Computer gets very slow by downloading anti virus....plz help me

The anti virus is needed for computer to protect from the viruses .
The anti virus consumes certain amount of cpu and memory usage. There are anti viruses that consume large amount of memory and CPU .
If your system have higher memory and CPU performance you can use any anti virus so that the performance is not downgraded to very much.

If you not having more memory and higher CPU in that case you can use anti virus that can consume less memory and also you can stop services in antivirals which are not necessary

The function becomes slow after i install a anti virus.

it is normal...

all anti virus needs memory test...

all of them if you enable in start up you will experience slow start also.. you will feel that your computer is slow because all of your task are scanned by your anti -virus...

if you still want your anti-virus running but you don't want your pc to be slow..you can customize the anti-virus options...

you can select there what actions your anti virus will do and what you don't want to do...

ex. stopping your instant messaging shield...
stopping p2p shield...
stopping network dshield...
stopping web shield...
stopping standard shield...

you can also customize it by not letting the autorun of the virus in system start up...

hope i've help you..

My computer is really slow going into differnt sites....the compressor fan is slow to start up...had my computer stripped down and tuned up, but it's still slow...they said the cpu is showing its age,...

Your computer going slow could be for the following reasons: 1 Not enough RAM - remove unwanted files by cleaning the disc. Also defragment the computer. Increase the RAM 2 Virus - remove the virus 3 If you do the above you will see the improvement and no need to have a new cpu

Slow performance

Slow computer can be cause of a low RAM of it and also if there's a lot of program/application install on it and also if there's any virus or malware operating on your syste.
The best that you can do first is to try to scan your system with a good anti virus like avast, avira and other to make sure your system is free from virus that may cause it to slow down then if still slow, try removing programs that your not using to free some resources for your computer and the best thing that you can do is try updating the RAM of your computer that will really make it faster..

Hope that helps.........
