Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines

1 Answer

Washing machine powers up, but dosen't continue to function. I bypassed the lid lock with a magnet, but will not engage otherwise. After turning it on, and with the lid lock engaged the machine sounds like it starts. After a short period of time a code of LD comes up. I don't have a manuel for the machine. I hope you can help. The machine is a Whirlpool cabrio WTW6300WW.

Display says "lid" and machine won't start

May be the lid switch is faulty. There would be switch which confirm the Door is closed. If the switch is fault the the lid lock will not get activated and the the machine wont run. Try to find the switch and replace it. If you bypass it then you wont be able to close the door because the the lid lock will get activated before you close it.

How can I bypass the lid lock model # NTW47018QO

the lock function was added to elimimiate the danger of someone sticking there body parts inside machine (they can kill a human or pet) while its operating this is a safety function and really should not be bypassed unless in very special uses , this function used to be done by a lid switch that shut power off to machine , the lid lock now is easy to disengage just press the stop button in as soon as machine stops moving the the lid should unlock allowing you to open it to Add/remove items , I do warn folks that if any items are added after fill step the auto water level sensor has already made its calculation of needed water so what's in there after more clothes are added will not have sufficient water level to clean properly resulting in disappointed washing results

Bypass LG WF-T9250PP lid switch

Before bypassing the lid switch, check whether the magnet on the lid is OK. The reed switch is under the cover adjacent to the position of the magnet when the lid is closed.

How do you bypass the lid lock

If it's magnetic, put a magnet on the machine. If it's mechanical, you'll have to take the top off and jump the wires.

Neither of these is recommended, because by doing so you defeat an important safety device.

Lid lock broken can I overide?

Washer not starting Cycle:
I would have to slam the washer lid before the washer recognized the lid was shut.
What I did to fix:
1. Ref the link below for Schematics
http://blog.kennyluong.com/Tricking-A-Maytag-Bravos-Washer/
2. Looking at the Lid Lock section of the Schematic:
Place a jumper between pins 2 and 3 of J15
This engages the 1st switch (Lid Lock) so, I don't have to slam the lid anymore
3. Since my Lock switch (2nd switch), which is engaged with a magnetic, is working, my work is done.
If you find that your machine is still not starting the cycle, you will need to
replace the Lid Lock mechanism or ref the above link for temp bypass.

I had that problem with a top loader and wedged half of a wooden clothespin between the lid and the switch to close it. Problem solved!

Lid lock

yes - simply jumper the two wires on the switch (chassis side).
the part on the lid is actually a magnet.
