treo 650 suddenly went to a palmone boot up screen then to a palmone powered screen and just keeps repeating without fully going to the normal screen mode for the phone.

When the first screen flashes, as the bar is loading, hold up. Let go once the bar finishes. If that doesn't work you may need to hard reset. Just google how to give it a hard reset and remember that you will lose everything that isn't backed up if you do.

phone frozen. Hard reset doesn't do anything

A hard reset will erase everything on the smart phone. If you still see your data, then you were not successful in performing the hard reset. In that case, what you have done is a soft reset.

Carefully try one of these two methods:

Main method:
1. Pull the battery out. Put the battery back in while holding the RED button down and a reset screen will appear.
2. Push the up button on the five-way to start the reset process.

Alternate process:
1. Similar to the hard-reset of the Treo 650. Remove the battery cover.
2. Press and hold the Red radio button.
3. Use the stylus to depress the reset button next to the battery.
4. Push the up button on the five-way when you get a prompt to "Erase all data".

My son's Treo 650 powers on (keypad lights up but screen does not light up.) My son attempted to switch the case from the silver to a black and now it will not work. Help?

it may need a software rest if it don"t work go to reinstal software first chake it out

  1. Hard reset:
  2. Press and hold the Power (on/off) button on the front panel of your device.

  3. While holding Power, use an unfolded paper clip, or the reset tool at the tip of your stylus. Gently press and release the RESET button inside the hole on the back panel of your device (where's the reset hole?).
  4. If you see a progress bar (see below), keep holding the Power button.
  5. Next, the Palm Powered screen will appear. Release the Power button when you see it.
  6. You'll see a screen that asks: Erase all data? YES = "up" button NO = any other button. Press UP on your 5-way navigator to complete the hard reset.
Warning: A hard reset will erase everything on your device. All your data will be removed, and formats, preferences and other settings are restored to their factory default settings. Don't perform a hard reset unless you've backed up your data, or you're willing to lose everything.
HotSync note:Some third-party applications change the way your device backs up data. Other third-party applications do not back up data. If you have third-party software on your device, please contact the developer to learn what components are backed up during a HotSync operation, and if HotSync conduits are altered. Any data not backed up will be lost.

  • Do not forget to back up your data before performing the hard reset. If you don't, only the data from your last HotSync will be able to be recovered.
  • After performing a hard reset, install your applications one at a time to make sure each is in working order. Delete any applications that are not in working order, as those might have caused the need for the hard reset in the first place.

Auto-off not working

I heard this happens after updating the Treo 650 with the new version 1.17. Is this your case? If so just remove the new update... Anyway, you can try the soft restart or even Performing a system reset(from the user guide p.170): ".. Performing a soft reset A soft reset is similar to restarting a computer. If your Treo is not responding or you have trouble synchronizing with your computer, a soft reset may help. 1. Press the Battery Door Release button and slide the battery door downward to remove it from your Treo. 2. Use the stylus tip to gently press the reset button on the back of your Treo. .."
