It can be repaired, but usually water-damaged cameras are either worthless or VERY expensive to repair. I should expect that yours is destroyed, since Nikon's D200 is not designed to be waterproof, and has many electronic and steel parts which are very susceptible to being destroyed by the infiltration of water. A good camera shop would give you an estimate for no charge. If they tell you that it is beyond repair, you might take it to another shop for a second opinion. Is it possible for you to claim the damage on any insurance? You might check with your insurance agent just to be sure.

    Imrna,

I don't know what further you might expect anyone to tell you, without actually looking inside the camera. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but a camera simply isn't designed to be immersed in water. Cameras that are will be very expensive, because multiple controls and access points have to be sealed thoroughly and that becomes expensive due to redundancy built into such seals.

It may have some value to a camera repair shop (check with your local camera shop), but I doubt it. Most any repair to a camera would involve only new parts from Nikon. I've had cameras destroyed by water, one of which was a very valuable antique, which I now have on display in my home, simply because it is too beautiful to simply throw away. Again, I'm sorry that you have this bad news, and wish that I could help you more. Have you taken it to your camera store yet? It might have less damage than we think, but you won't know until a professional takes a look at it. As I said, a reputable camera repair shop would give you a free estimate.

HELP! How do i replace the main selector button on the back of my Nikon d200? The large button that toggles picture review? My broke and I need to replace it. Thanks! Patti

Patti, replacing switches requires the outer case to be dismantled and a job for a service person. I don't know where you are in this world but the D200 is still a good camera and well worth the dollars to repair it. If it were one of mine I would send it back to Nikon or a Nikon authorized repair center.
Probably not the answer you wanted but working on these cameras isn't like changing a light bulb.

Card reader won't recongnize card. I've installed numerous cards and still get "no card present" in the window and an E in display on top of the camera. I also got a CHR in the display once.....Thanks

Camera repair or selling for parts as is on a site such as Ebay is suggested for this one.
To repair the card reader, you would need to completely dismantle the camera. That is a job for a digital camera repair man, or Nikon to do.

Nikon does have a repair program, they may have a trade-off program as well. You would have to call them.

Total shutter counter D200 (maintenance menu?)

Nikon doesn't make that information available; but if you want, you can try IExif. It is a freeware program which purports to be able to give you that type of information and more from your digital camera. It is available at the following link:

Nikon SB600 flash behaving strangely

I have sent my SB-600 to Nikon twice in the past 6 months to resolve this problem. They have fixed it both times, but never told me what the problem was. I've had it back for exactly 1 day now, and it's started back up again already. If I receive a solution (or replacement), I'll let you know!
