Compaq Presario SR1650NX will only turn on and run all 3 fans at high speed. Nothing else works... no monitor, no hard drives run, no cd/dvd's will open. Green light on back stays on green solid, no flashing. This happened after the computer sat disconnected from the power cord for 2 weeks. Can you help?

What displays on the monitor? Have you tried pushing escape button to get into bios settings and be sure it is set up to look for the HDD 1st? Also is there a CD or DVD in the drive? If so, remove that and try again.

I had this problem before on my pc, my BIOS chip was corrupted and I had to buy a new one. Mine wasn't a Compaq but its possible it could be the same problem.

Serious issue. Problem could be corrupt CMOS, corrupted OS, bad hard drive, motherboard, or other peripheral.

Try disconnecting everything except memory chips and see what happens. See if unit turns on; if so introduce one of the disconnected items one by one until you come across the situation where it does not work. Then you have identified the culprit.

refer to the users manual, or download if possible.
Yellow/Orange could mean that the computer is In Hibernate/Sleep Mode et,c. usually restored by pressing certain keyboard keys Or pressing and holding the power on button For 4 seconds or more.
Other Possibility ( graphics/VGA driver or device, Corrupt Or missing )
You could change the graphics card, Or remove the motherboards Cmos Battery, for 10 seconds, which will restore the Computers Bios, default settings.

Go to bootdisk.com and download boot files for your operating system (ex. Windows XP). There are software for floppy disk which is the easier way to get your boot files. If you do not have a floopy you will have to get the CD files, there you have all the instructions how to get the CD. Once you get the files, insert the floopy or the CD and reboot your computer. The filse should be installed automatically, if not do it manually and reboot computer again.

hi mikebal26 this is nichu,ok let me make you clear that your system is not booting because your cpu is not recognising some of the hardware it may be either your hdd,ram or any other.

if your system does not boot it has nothing to do with your monitor and fans.fans keep rotating whenever you switch on your pc.check inside the cpu especially with your ram .

so first when you turn on the system press delete to check it in the bios settings , in that check bootable addins and in the bootable devices set
1st priority to-cd rom,
2nd priority to hard disc drive,
3rd to priority to floppy drive.

.save the above settings and then boot this will turn on your system .
this will solve your problem
