Question about Danby 22 in. DDW399 Free-standing Dishwasher

Water pours into dishwashe and spills out when not running

A few minutes ago, with the dishwasher not running, water began to pour out the door. I had to shut the supply valve to stop the dishwasher from filling with water. I was able to run it through a drain cycle to empty it. When I turn the water back on momentarily, water again begins to flow. It's a GE Triton XL.

Sounds like you have a bad water valve solenoid, however their is a float switch on inside btm floor frt of dish washer that senses the level and cuts off the valve, however if the valve is bad then it will never shut off. good thing you were home. i would replace the water valve, that is located behind the front access panel . hope this helps

How to Sanitize Your Dishwasher

Step 1 -
Get rid of any odor that may be coming from the plumbing pips your dishwasher shares with the sink. Pour a half of cup of baking soda down each sink drain. Pour cups of vinegar down each drain until all of the baking soda is washed away. After five minutes, run very, very hot water down each of the drains.

Step 2 -
Clean out your garbage disposal. Slice a lemon/lime and put the slices down your disposal drain. Run your disposal with cold water running.

Step 3 -
Pour two cups of vinegar into the dishwasher and let it sit for an hour and then let the dishwasher run through a cycle with the hottest water possible. Repeat the process is that does not clean up all of the build and film. You can use baking soda and bleach instead of vinegar - just sprinkle the baking soda in the bottom of the dishwasher tub, and pour bleach inside the tub as well.

Step 4 - Between washes, pour 1/4 cup of lemon juice into the dishwasher cup and run a short, but complete wash cycle. This will not only deodorize the dishwasher but will also help get rid of any metal build-up.

Where do i put the salt

Hello Maria,

The salt goes in the salt compartment in the base of the washing compartment. Unscrew the lid of the salt compartment (counter-clockwise), pour in salt until the compatment is full or nearly full then screw the lid back on firmly, but do not overtighten it.

belectric_138.jpg
If the dishwasher is new and you are using it for the first time, pour about 1 litre of cold clean water into the salt compartment before adding the salt. If you spill any salt or the water spills over the top of the salt compartment, it will wash/drain away the next time you use the washer.

The most important thing is to only use dishwasher salt. The salt is used for water-softening and only salt sold specifically for dishwashers can be used for this purpose.

The picture above is from a Bosch dishwasher. You may have another brand or model of dishwasher, but the salt compartment will still be in the base of the washing compartment and will have a cap which you unscrew as above.

Hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please let me know the brand and model number of your dishwasher.

Regards,
BElectric

We are getting a strong odor from our two compartment dishwasher, would welcome any suggestions

Get rid of any odor that may be coming from the plumbing pipes your dishwasher shares with the sink. Pour a half a cup of baking soda down each sink drain. Clean out your garbage disposal. Slice a lemon and put the slices down your disposal drain. Run your disposal with the cold water running. You can use just the lemon or an orange rind if you don't have a whole lemon.

Pour two cups of vinegar into the dishwasher and let it sit for an hour and then let the dishwasher run through a cycle with the hottest water possible. Repeat the process if that does not help. You can use baking soda instead of vinegar - just sprinkle it in the bottom of the dishwasher.

Between washes, pour ¼ cup lemon juice into the dishwasher cup, and run a short but complete wash cycle. Is will not only deodorize the dishwasher, but will also help get rid of any metal build-up

Try pouring water from a bucket through the front. maintain the level. It should not overflow.

Run a empty cycle. If there is a air block it will get cleared.

Last three loads have not cleaned my glasses - cloudy and lipstick still on them. Using JetDry and Cascade powder. What can I do to fix this?

You probably have a soap buildup. Try running it without any dishes in it. Let it fill up and start washing a few minutes, the open the door and see if there are suds. If there is, pour a half cup of cooking oil into the water and let it complete the cycle. That will clear the soap buildup. Aside from that, keep using jetdry and make sur the water going into the dishwasher is hot (run kitchen tap until it's hot before starting dishwasher to clear the line)

Bosch dishwasher water won't enter for wash cycle and YES water is on

Will it do anything else?

How about if you fill it up manually? As in fill up a pitcher, pour contents into the bottom of the dishwasher until it raises the float. Close the door and see if it runs. (don't put so much in there that it pours out the open door)

If it runs and you are sure the water is on. Turn the water off. Take the inlet line off the dishwasher's electric control valve and see if the inlet screen is covered with trash. If it is, clean it off, put it back togehter and see if it works.

Soap in JetDry dispenser.

Unfortunately there is no easy way to completely get the detergent out of the rinse aid reservoir in one quick method, short of taking the inside panel off the door.

However, I would try a simple way to flush it out. With the door open almost al the way open, pour warm/hot water into the rinse aid fill hole and keep pouring until you start to get clear water coming out. The water will be flowing back out the fill hole you're pouring the water into and should just flow down the door panel into the dishwasher tub. Try to keep the door about 10-15 degrees up from all the way open to let the water get in the rinse aid reservoir.

Just pour the water in slowing so you don't agitate the mixture and you should be able to get it running clear in 5-10 minutes. It could take a gallon or so of warm/hot water to accomplish this, but it will flush it.

When you'r done, just put the dishwasher into a rinse cycle to pump out the water and soap, etc. You may have to run a full cycle afterwards to get rid of any excess detergent in the tub.

Hope this helps and best regards!
