Cannot get my 2nd generation touch to turn on...plugged into the usb port and tried to charge via wall outlet charger. I can't even get the battery meter to appear.
Your ipod seems to be having problem like damaged system software. you can reinstall your ipod software but will erase anything on your ipod, don't worry you can sync them again. here's how to do it.
make sure itunes is open and connected to the internet.
Hold down your ipod power button, then hold down the home button too, this will force the ipod to restart and in restore mode.
the screen will go dark and restart, now release the POWER BUTTON while still holding down the HOME BUTTON.
It will show an itunes icon and a USB icon saying connect to itunes.
NOTE: you might have to do this procedure many times in order to show the itunes and usb icon.
Now release the HOME BUTTON and connect to itunes, it will erase your ipod and download software from apple to install on your ipod.
this might take some time, wait for it to complete the task and now you are ready to use your ipod again.
