Excepting the obvious (you have power from plug CHECKED / you'd be surprised)

MANUALLY try power button / to be sure remote isn't faulty.
There should be some kind of indicator led that set has power.
IF NO lights/ indicator good chance the Power Supply has suffered .. maybe replacing
IF lights but still wont start
Likely the "main" board is bad. (other boards or panel can also be an issue)

How to hook up

You do not need a smart tv in order to use the roku. Basically the roku device makes your TV Smart. The basic connection is just an hdmi cable, and some type of internet connection. Depending on the Roku you have, you can either go with the built in wireless, or you can hard wire the internet. The same type of cable that you would use to hook up a computer to your router.

Why would you connect it to wi fi? It is not a smart tv (no streaming)
You could buy a Roku, and connect that for streaming movies. Roku costs $50-100
