Question about Toshiba 27A30 27" TV

My universal remote stopped working, I bought another one and it doesn't work either, I mean it doesn't work with my set, it seems I programmed it correctly but when I try to change the channel it doesn't work...is it my TV set?

It was the TV set! I googled remote control problems and went on one of the websites......The answer was quite simple, unplug the TV for a few minutes and let it reset itself. I did and it did! I guess it's no different than a cell phone or computer sometimes!

you can program most universal remotes to work the tv and menu the child lock is activated on the tv and the buttons will not work only power button will work as long as it has not been set to not work when made. some are set this way. but a remote with the right code set will turn on the tv.

You have to program the remote control to synchronize with TV. If you wish to get moredetails; codes, three digits, four digits or five digit ones, check this link. Pull up older posts there. Return the tv universal remote where u bought it,u only used a universal remote when u must have too,because universal remotes are very strangely and react differencely each models of tvs u tries to programming it codes to it CPU chip.Norcent tvs are recent tvs in the market,have many spare original remote.Try website like Remotes.com to buy the tv original remote.

Hi! Transmitting doesn't mean it's working, What you should do to test it is use a good quality universal remote such as a Logitech Harmony and first program the preset code for your receiver into the Universal Remote. If that works, you know your OEM remote has gone bad, at least for those buttons. If it doesn't then you you should attempt to have your Universal Remote "learn" the IR signals from your receiver's remote If the controls still don't work, there is a problem with either your IR receiver on your receiver or the the circuitry that proceesses the signals into commands. either the remote is bad or on the tv the circuit board at has the remote receiver on it is bad. If you bought it new and it has a warranty contact them for service. If not you could try programming a universal remote to see if it will work your set.

I have a Toshiba model 27A30 that seems to be on its way out. Lately, I'm getting two major problems with it: (1) Horizontal black lines that distort the picture. (2) Only a portion of the screen will show when I turn it on. Sometimes it's the upper third or half; sometimes it's the middle third, but never the whole screen. Can this be repaired? If so, what part needs replacing? On average, what will the part(s) cost? Thanks for your help.
