I purchased my camera (pentax ist dl) at a yard sale for $30 and it takes the best pictures, but the lcd display was broken. Sometimes if I push the review button i can briefly see some of the picture but then it quickly disappears. When the screen lights up, which is only for a short period of time and then it dies, it looks as though the screen is cracked insidei. I love my camera. Can it be repaired? Is there a part I can purchase and possibly fix it myself?
This is one of those things that just cant be fixed on the kitchen table on a sunday afternoon, sorry. The mechanics and electronics are so precise and small it is one of those things that is just not recommended. You can take it to any reputable camera dealer and they can arrange the shipping and repair, it will need to go back to Pentax. The up side is they will clean and adjust anything they can before it is returned to you.
It can be repaired at a Pentax service facility. It was a great camera...well worth fixing.
