New speakers won't work with my computer

I just purchased new JBL Duet Aluminum multi media desktop speakers. I can hear a little sound coming from them but volume knob does not turn up and volume in "Sounds and Audio Devices" is on high (not muted).

Have a JBL Encounter 2.1 Multi Media Speaker System need to find a power lead and speaker jack for it im resident in uk and need voltage requirements regards

you shouldnt have to worry about a speaker jack for it. it should work anywhere and a simple usa to uk power adapter will work for you it just changes the plug type and up or downs the voltage (i cant recall if uk is higher or lower then the u.s)

Hi,

It seems that the varistor have bad contact. You can try to open the sub/speaker and clean the dust inside, maybe helps. Other possibility you find the varistor and change it, but it required a little bit material and time.

most new jbl speakers are digital. not many computers come with integrated or add on pci digital sounds devices. most all sound devices run on anolog. you might want to look into that first.if thats the case then purchase a digital sound card and be sure to run the drivers cd.

My Altec lansing multi media ada 745 just stopped working all of a sudden. It doesn't work for all media ie. ipod, tv, computer. We can hardly hear it. I changed the fuse but it still doesn't work. Wh

unplug the power from the speakers, reseat the all the connections for the satellite speakers, ensure the power switch on both the subwoofer and the Right Front Speaker are in the ON position.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, then you are most likely going to need to replace the speakers, as the fuse is the only serviceable componet.

JBL PLATINUM SERIES SPEAKERS

It is possible, but you may run into a problem with the amplification to be able to hear the speaker. Without knowing exactly what your setup is the best I can say is to attempt to hook them up to your headphone jack and see how well they work. If you don't hear anything, you need an amplifier. If you hear a distorted sound, but volume is not an issue, use the line out jack and see if it is any better.
