  • Anonymous Sep 16, 2009

This oven has electronic ignition, not a pilot light, so suggestion wasn't useful.

Check that the pilot is lit., If not, light it after gas is shut off for 10 minutes. Then turn to pilot, hold down, light, keep holding down for exactly 1 minute, then turn gas knob to ON and you should be good. If gas shuts off, then valve is bad.

Testimonial: "Thanks. I will review the manual to be sure about whether there is a pilot light. I think it is electronic. Certainly the stovetop burners are."

If this unit is electric, then you should not be getting a gas smell. If you have gas to this unit. Then the electronic igniter isn't working or fuel is not being delievered. These units do tend to have faulty control panels through time as well. Parts and manual can be found at repairclinic.com

You could do the repair yourself. Much more information is needed. Is your oven spark ignition or hot surface ignition ? A valve may be opening only partially. This can happen on a hot surface ignition system when the glow bar is starting to malfunction. Need to know more details to be of real help.

Won't get hot, smells like gas

Most of these new fangled gas stove feature a silicone carbide ignitor to light the oven. Older stoves used a standing pilot light. As silicone carbide ignitor age a little they tend to get weak and fail to open the gas safety vave sufficiently enough for ignition. Take a look

My Amanda gas oven Model no. AGS781WW is not heating up in the oven, nor does the broiler come on. The electronic ignition glows, I don't smell any gas in the oven. The cooktop comes on fine.

even if the ignitor glows it may not be getting hot enough to light the gas. if it does not get hot enough the gas valve should not open. try changing the ignitor, usually 30 - 60 dollars.

I have a Garland Stove and Oven. The oven is not working right.

Hi there, most of the newer unit parts are available still, but not seeing it makes it hard to guarantee. I would advise calling a Factory Authorized Servicer in your area, having a problem with gas entering the oven, and not igniting is a serious problem, and it sounds like the pilot is lit in the oven, but could be malfunctioning.
Here is the telephone for Garland: Tel: 1.800.424.2411.
They can recommend someone in your area, or check your local phone book, for Restaurant repair companies, and contact them.
Hope that helps, and thank you.

Burner flame shuts off during use and then you smell gas

all ovens, when they reach temperature they go off and on to kip the temperature, but if you smell gas the oven ignitor needs replacing, the ignitor gets red hot to ignite the burner ,but when ignitor does not get hot enough, it will have a delayed, that's the reason you smell gas.

CRG9700 - OVEN TEMPERATURE BIG FLUCTUATIONS

biggest issue with any gas oven is a faulty ignitor, not maintaining oven temp, too long to preheat, taking too long to cook, possible slight gas smell during operation, all signs of a bad ( or going bad) ignitor
