Frigidaire/electrolux frostfree stand up freezer occasionally seems to completely stop working. Even semi defrosts and leaves some water on floor. after a while it starts up again. Is there a problem here? I feel that the motor should be running 100% of the time...

I've had the same problem with my Frigidaire/electrolux frostfree stand up freezer. It's a major downer to go into your freezer to find all of your frozen foods (much of it expensive meat) - defrosted, some or all of it ..ruined. I sometimes wonder how many times it may have stopped working without us knowing, (since we sometimes go days without needing to open it) and just how creepy some of the meat that I am serving my family might be.
On top of destroyed groceries, the cows and chickens lives lost in vain - (aka wasted meat - I'm sensitive to that as the vegetarian in the family), it gets extremely hot on the outside when this occurs. It gets so hot, that we're actually worrying about a fire. It's almost like it is periodically overheating and going into an auto-shut down mode.
Needless to say, we are not "digging" our Frigidaire/electrolux frostfree stand up freezer.....
We are considering ditching it and buying some other model - refurbished. This just stinks... is disappointing... we paid a ton.. and now it's headed for a landfill.... (really?) JUST LOUSY!
Would LOVE a solution.... would love to know of others with this problem...

The compressor should not be running all the time it will shut off when proper temp has been reached and will go into a defrost cycle about every 12 hours. if there is water on the floor check the drain pan to see if it is not over flowing.

Philco/Eletrolux upright freezer error code 5

E5 Error code indicates that the water collection tank is full. To drain the water collection tank completely, leave the bottom drain cap off long enough to allow any residual water to drain out. Once the water tank is completely drained and no more water flows out, reinstall the cap

Electrolux door alarm Won't stop. We open door to turn off alarm. Temp seems right but slight condensation at the very top of the fridge. Need to at least disable alarm until I can get a repair.

Check the back wall of the freezer, I would suspect the beginnings of or a full-on defrost failure... If there is frost on the back wall of the freezer it means the evaporator is blocked, disallowing airflow to the fridge compartment... Electrolux Refrigerator Defrost Thermostat 216731001 . If there is no blockage, but temps are still not cold enough, your Frigidaire may be leaking refrigerant...

The top two shelves are not freezing and the food on those shelves and that area of the door have defrosted. The bottom seems to be freezing. I can hear the fan running and do not feel any drafts from

Obviously that freezer is not achieved the required temperature. There are several reasons for that:
- Defrosting system is not working, which leads to accumulation too much ice on the evaporator that prevents heat transfer and reduces air circulation despite the fan is running.
- The problem with draining condensate after defrosting cycle which also leads to accumulation of ice.
- Leaking gas from the cooling system (reduced cooling capacity)
- Faulty compressor

Leaking water on floor

The defrost drain is most likely frozen or clogged. I put together some instructions on clearing this for refrigerator/freezers and it applies the same to all freezers with drains. Take a look and let me know if you have questions.

Frigidaire Ultrafreeze upright just stopped working

It sounds as if your compressor it's running. This could be a bad compressor, bad capacitor, bad thermostat. See that there are no fans or defrost, it is one of the other. I would start with checking the capacitor. You can replace it with a Supco 3 in 1. It cost around $30.00. Anything else is going to start costing $100.00 and more. If you need a freezer that big, I would have it fixed unless it ends up being the compressor.

Freezer/refrigerator

Refrigerators with an evaporator (called a humid plate on this type of refrigerator) in the refrigerator section are called a semi-automatic defrost. This means that the freezer section occasionally needs defrosting but the refrigerator section defrosts by a means called "heat leakage defrost". How it should work....
the cold control, (the electrical device under the dial), leaves the compressor off for long enough for the plate to melt off each cycle.
If yours is not melting off perhaps you have a faulty control or you have it set too high. hope this help

Freezer Defrosting

After a defrost cycle the ice around the evaporator melts, that water goes out and lands in a tray under the refrigerator. But sometimes the tube gets clogged and water spills inside the freezer and if enough water accumulates, it will make it to the floor. To fix this problem look for a small hole inside the refrigerator and open it up using a can of compressed air. Hope this helps
