Resetting Your StreetPilot
If your StreetPilot freezes (stops responding to button presses), try turning it off and then on again. If this does not help, remove the batteries and then reinsert them. Disconnect from external power, if necessary.
Clearing all User Data
If resetting does not fix your problem, you may need to clear all user data from your StreetPilot.
• IMPORTANT: zf you clear all user data, you will delete all saved locations from My Favorites I and all settings in your StreetPilot. Be sure you want to clear all user data before proceeding.
To clear all user data, press and hold down all buttons in the following order: ciJ, Wheel, Power.
Continue holding down all buttons until you see a prompt, “Do you really want to erase all user data?”
Select
Yes.

My GPS system is having seizures

The solution is listed on the garmin site but it is not clear
The problem is with the infra red remote reciever on the unit
Sometimes the sun acts like the remote is being pressed and that is when it shakes
the solution, and I hope you still have the unit cause there is nothing outthere like it.

Answer: from garmin site Normally this issue is caused by sunlight from certain angles hitting the Infrared (IR) port on the unit. This makes the unit react as if the remote control was communicating with it. This makes it switch in between screens just like if you were using the remote.
You can disable the remote IR port on your StreetPilot® 26xx unit by:

  1. Powering your unit ON
  2. Press the Menu button
  3. Touch Options
  4. Touch the General tab
  5. Press the Menu button
  6. Touch Disable remote

If you wish to use the remote again you can enable the remote IR port on your StreetPilot 26xx unit by:

  1. Powering your unit ON
  2. Press the Menu button
  3. Touch Options
  4. Touch the General tab
  5. Press the Menu button
  6. Touch Enable remote

Garmin streetpilot 2620

There is no reset button. Every time you turn off your Garmin and turn it back on it reloads everything fresh. What is likely the cause of what you are experiencing is a failed Cornice microdrive. It is near impossible to fix with the parts available today (May 2010) and it is more time management and cost effective simply to purchase a working 2610 from a third party site, or to purchase a new unit from the store that is still supported. In addition to the parts issue Garmin discontinued Map support for the 2620 (and 2610) in 2009.

Garmin street pilot III

Push the power button to turn it on then count to 5 then hit enter. Then count to 5 again then hit enter. Once there hit the power button with a real quick press. The power button is also the screen brightness button. Someone may have turned it all the way down. OR the back light could have gone out.
