Big vertical tinted stripe on screen

A very annoying problem has cropped up with my otherwise wonderful TV: major tinted vertical stripes across my screen. Note that the screen should be black here:

The middle stripe has a greenish hue, and the blue is stronger to the left of the stripe. It is most obvious when displaying darker colors, and seems to wash out with more saturated images. It is present with all input modes but doesn't appear to be "burned in". The problem developed suddenly - I only noticed it today and it's very obvious. Is this salvageable?

The problem eventually resolved itself. Interestingly enough, the bands shifted slowly to the left until they worked themselves off the screen and didn't come back. I believe it was the blue tube that was going wonky. There was nothing on the lens, and nothing wrong with the projection mirror. I suspect it was something with the video circuit itself (dust maybe?), but for now I'm crossing my fingers and hoping it doesn't come back. Thanks for helping!

Need more information:
Can you isolate which color is causing the banding?
Is there something ON the lense itself?
Is the projection mirror broken or bent?

Vertical colored stripes on my V555-G1

Vertical colored stripes on your V555-G1 TV can be caused by a few different things. The first thing you should check is the cable that connects your TV to the input source.

Make sure that the cable is firmly connected to both the TV and the input source. If the cable is firmly connected and you're still seeing vertical stripes, the next thing to check is the settings on your TV.

Make sure that the resolution is set to 1080p and that the refresh rate is set to 60Hz. If you're still seeing vertical stripes, try changing the HDMI input that your TV is connected to.

If you're still seeing vertical stripes after trying all of the above, it's possible that there is a problem with your TV. You can try resetting the TV to see if that fixes the problem.

If the problem persists, you may need to contact customer support for further assistance.
Will replacing the T-con board help?
The short answer is: maybe.
The longer answer is that it depends on what is causing the problem in the first place. If the problem is with the T-con board, then replacing it may well fix the issue.

However, if the problem is with something else - like the LCD panel itself - then replacing the T-con board is not going to help.

52" Mitsubishi projection TV has stripes

Depends on exact model number; if a WD-52525 or something very similar pitch it---they are falling apart and have all kinds of troubles.

Google the full model number with "problems" to see what issues the set has like a hundred bad surface mounted caps etc.
