I bought one too! It failed in 6mos. I sent the $ and returned the bad one for another of the same "no choice". Now they suddenly "lost" my replacement. Fix that, haha. Do you have a fax# for RCA? Please help me.

Assuming you used the standard YELLOW-WHITE-RED RCA cable, between the unit and the TV, the colours of each of the plugs should match both the outputs on the rear of the unit and the respective inputs at the rear of the TV. The TV must also be on an AV input 'channel' to receive the connected unit. (for example, AV1 or VIDEO 1)
Try changing the RCA cables - just in case the ones you currently have are defective in some way.
Being a combo unit, there should be a DVD-VCR common output on the rear - using RCA cable, the YELLOW is video, the WHITE is left channel, the RED is right - these MUST match the input on the TV, and the TV AV input must be selected in order to view the pictures and audio from the unit. To enjoy both VCR and DVD, using the RCA connection, the common output on the rear of the combo unit is recommended.
Better quality video is possible using S-Video cable (available from electronics stores such as Radio Shack etc. but this does not provide audio; you would still require RCA RED-WHITE cable for that, and your TV may not have S-Video input). Your TV may have a TV/AV button on the front - select the correct AV 'channel' with that if necessary.
It makes sense to check everything twice before assuming anything is broken.
your line in or front RCA yellow/white/red cable input is usually defaulted to channel -1 and is accesible by either pressing the tv/video button on tv or remote or sometimes by scrolling down channels past 1
hi there
open up your dash get 1 short RCA cable (red and white) male ends on them
now place the red and white RCA into the back of DVD in-dash player next step the aftermarket CD player should have 2 rca plugs that say aux put the other end red and white RCA cable that you just put into DVD unit into the aux inputs on back of CD player when this is done reinstall both units back into the dash now on your CD player press the source button till aux appears once this is done you will hear the DVD player sound...........now if you press the source button and no aux appears......hold down the source button till the CD player powers off...........once CD player is off hold down the F (function) button till beep or unit turns on a display use the skip buttons or F (function) button to go threw features once you get to aux turn aux to on now hold the source button down again till unit powers on normally once this is done press source button again till you find aux........if you get sound and the TV doesn't work let me know and ill guide you to get that running too (if there are no aux RCA plugs on the back of CD player) let me know (sometimes there is a headphone looking plug on back of CD units) if what i told you doesn't work let me know the brand of CD player you have so i can give you correct setups I'm only going by your in-dash DVD player right now
hope i was able to help get you sound
good day,to connect your DVD to TV screen follow this steps.
1) prepare your RCA cable ( 3 colored cable yellow/red/white)
note: always remember this
yellow = video
red and white = Audio (left and right)
2) at the back or front display of your TV screen you'll see RCA socket
marked as "AV1 input" "AV2 input" etc... if your screen is only mono
sound you can only see two sockets Yellow=video white= audio
3) at the back of your DVD player connect the RCA cable following the
color code yellow to yellow white to white and red to red. after you
connect the cable to your dvd player now connect the other end of thr
RCA to your TV screen input.
make sure you'll connect it to "A/V input" not "A/V out" then after
connecting all the cables, from the remote commander of your TV screen
press a button indicating "A/V" some mark as "TV/AV" press this button
until your screen display the back ground display of your DVD player.
After market remotes only work the most basic of functions - ie., volume channel changes , on/off. They do not get into menus, change inputs, etc. If you can change channels on the console tune it to 3 or 4 and get an rf adapter for your dvd player outputs, set it to one of those channels, and connect to tv antenna input. Ir will work but the picture will not be as good as it can be.
1. Mmanually turn on the device (TV, DVD, etc.)
2. Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button until the red indicator stays on, then release the CODE SEARCH button.
3. Press and quiclkly release the desired mode button 9TV, DVD, etc.). The red indicator blinks off once.
4. Press the CHANNEL UP button repeatedly (up to 300 times) until the
device (TV, DVD, etc.) changes channel. The red indicator blinks once
with each button press. If you accidentally overshoot the code
required, use the CHANNEL DOWN button to backtrack through the library
until the device again changes channel. Pressing the CHANNEL UP changes
direction to forward again.
5. Press and release the MUTE button to install the code.
or try these 002 009 109 202 209 210 310 402 408 508 510 807 901 914 917 good luck its one of these!
I notice this was made in 2008 and I hope you have found the answer. But if you or others have not here is my answer. Are using the RCA cable from the output on the DVD Player and you have plugged it into the RCA in ports then you need to use the remote to move through the on screen menu. My INSIGNIA has a Source List menu on the remote that shows on screen. I can scope through the MENU for TV, Composite Side, S-Video Rear, S-Video Side, Composite 1, Composite 2, VCR, HDMI 1, HDMI 2, HDMI 3. That is found using either the INPUT button on the upper left on the remote or the buttons; VIDEO, COMP, HDMI, AND TV across the top of the remote. Hope this helps.
1) Buy RCA remote part # 240895 original about $25.00
2) Enter channel 00 for video sometimes works
3) Channel down 4-3-2-Vid 1, Vid 2, etc. sometimes works
4) Try Auto-Program Channels selection ( can be accessed on
front of set buttons or remote
Let me know ...........................................T.
Just fixed ours with the same problem. You need to hit the volume buttons on the remote during the time the screen goes black but BEFORE it gives you the "Connect cables" message. It should trick the TV into giving you a blank channel.
Sanyo TVs are made notoriously cheap, and have little glitches like this. Best of luck, space cowboy.
