It's a fairly new camera, just after a few months of purchase, the flash which was working fine, stopped. The pictures now comes out very dark. Is there any setting I should adjust?

i just pulled my camera apart and found that 1 wire to flash was broke I soldered a new wire in and the flash is up and working again. be carefull not to touch any of the connections as it has a capacitor and will shock you. trust me I found out the hard way
devon, nicely summed up ...red light truely indicates that the flash is charging however you couldnt get it to flash becuase the bulb needs to be replaced.

in order to repair your camera the IC851 is to be replaced. This integrated circuit is used for flash control.
Please do not try to fix it yourself. Contact your nearest Authorized Sony Service.
