I took the entire device apart.
The battery is connected to the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) through a connector.
The battery itself is attached to the back of the casing by
a strip of adhesive tape and 2 or 3 drops of some kind of glue.
Disconnect the battery and the speaker, by unplugging both from
the PCB.
Get a sharp knife and cut the hardened glue drops.
get a flat screw driver and slowly pry the battery form the back half
of the casing.
If you find a replacement battery with higher Ampere Hours, let me know.

Since Staple's Omnitech GPS has a lithium-ion
battery, the compartment should be pretty inaccessible. That is, you'll
probably have to take out some screws that you see on the back of the
unit. Definitely check out the manual before you try accessing it to
avoid breaking something!
