It sounds like there is quite a bit of sediment in the water. The filter you are using may be a very fine micron 5-10. Try using a 30-50 micron filter.

How do i reset the waterfilter light

WATER FILTER CHANGE REMINDER

(Select Models)

For some refrigerator models featuring

water filters, the Water Filter Change

Reminder function monitors the life of the

filter and provides a reminder when it is time

for the filter to be changed.

When the system detects either 12 months

of usage, or the filtering of 416 gallons of

water (whichever comes first), the CHANGE

FILTER indicator light will illuminate. This

indicates that the water filter should be

changed and the light reset.

To reset CHANGE FILTER light: Press and

hold the LIGHT and LOCK pads until the

CHANGE FILTER light blinks (approx. 3

seconds). The control is now reset for 12

months or another 416 gallons.

Note: The Water Filter Reminder will

operate if the filter bypass is in place.

We also installed the water filter GXWH40L. We never had any issues and have gone through probably five replacement filters. We recently changed the filter and have horrible water pressure. We changed it...

Check the micron rating on the filter. A typical filter will be 30-50 micron. If the new filters are a finer micron 5-10 these will reduce the water pressure significantly and plug up much faster. Also note if you have more sediment occurring. If on a well, hook a hose up to the drain at the well tank and flush the tank out to a floor drain, take note of any sediment, let the well kick on several times to flush completely.

If you have GATE valves on either side of the filter make sure the have opened all the way. They can become unscrewed and although it seems like it opened they gate can be almost closed. If the outside spigots are on hard water try the pressure there.
Water filters for pre-filter housings come in different micron ratings. They can be anywhere from .5 micron on up to 100 micron. The smaller the number the finer particulates it filters out and the faster it will plug up. Generally most filters used for residential households are 5 micron to 50 micron rating and the most common used are 10,30 or 50 micron. Try a 30 or 50 micron filter to see if it helps. But remember the larger the micron rating the more particulates pass through.
If there is a lot of sediment coming the well and building up in the bottom of the pre-filtet housing you may want to flush the well or consider having the well inspected by a well company. You could have a pinhole in the drop pipe that is letting sand in.
Run one of the outside spigots in to a clean white bucket, let the pump cycle several times and inspect for sediment in bucket, let it settle for about 20 minutes to see if excess sediment is coming from well. Have your water tested to see if the water chemistry has changed also.

I just installed 2 new GE-GXWH40L filters installed on each side of my new GE water softner. I can not get water to go through the filter. Works fine in bypass. I triple checked the flow direction and it...

This is proabably not the case but I have seen it happen, Have you checked the outlet side of the filter to make sure it was drilled when it was made. Thank you

Giving and indicates blue light? what it means

Is the light solid or is blinking. If the light is the system status light by the network jacks, then solid blue system light is turned on no errors in the BMC. If the indicator is blinking blue this mean the system is turned on and is in system ID state.

The blue light is blinking, the water tank is full, but the water isn't heating up at all. should we return it? Or is there something that we missed? We followed the instructions and are getting no where.

blinking light means the water circuit requires priming.
1 - press power button.
2 - place a cup under steamer and turn on full.
3 - turn steam off when blue light stops blinking (probably a few ounces of water in your cup).
4 - you're ready to rock!

The red light is blinking on the front of fridge this means what?

SOUNDS LIKE THE WATER FILTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WHICH SHOULD BE ON THE INSIDE OF THE REFRIGERATOR NEAR THE BACK AND AFTER THAT YOU MUST HOLD THE FILTER BUTTON FOR THREE TO FIVE SECONDS TO RESET THE FILTER REMINDER.
