Is there an interior basket that needs to be clean? My dishwasher just started leaking last week.

Carefully inspect the entire dishwasher for any signs of leaks or door seal for any cracks,or tears, you nmay replace the seal

Check your drain hose to make sure no water from the sink is draining back into the dishwasher.
If it is,re-hook the drain hose up high under the sink.
Next.
Start the dishwasher without dishes or detergent.
Once the fill and was cycle begins,open the door and por in 1 quart of WHITE vinegar and resume the wash cycle to completion.

Disposals rust out and need replacement.

Check a couple things first.
Run paper towel around top of disposal to see if moisture is leaking from around sink basket or dishwasher hose connection. Then check where tailpiece connects on side of disposal.
If these places are dry, the disposal has probably rusted out.

I wrote instructions for disposal replacement:

When I worked apartment maintenance, we replaced disposal with same brand disposal.
That way we didn't have to change out sink basket or change pipes.
How to change disposal: Disconnect p-trap and tailpiece going into disposal.
Rotate connector disk clockwise that holds disposal to sink basket.
Before installing new disposal.
Attach electric wire to new disposal.
Attach dishwasher tube to new disposal. Knock out plug inside dishwasher opening.
Push new disposal up into place, and attach to old sink basket with new connector disk.
Use new connector washer.
Re-assemble tubular pipe.



If this is your home, you want new sink basket that comes with new disposal because it looks shiny and new.
Buy a tub of plumbers putty also.
Remove old sink basket and clean opening.
Put finger-size roll of plumbers putty around sink opening, and then push new strainer basket into plumbers putty.
Tighten basket from below, wipe away excess putty around sink opening.
Install new disposal as described above.

Tips for tubular pipes:
When taking apart tubular pipes, start at p-trap and take apart as few pieces as needed to do job.
On image below loosen both upper and lower nuts, trap falls loose, and then work on disposal.
Any tubular drain pipe that gets moved while working under sink needs to be disassembled, cleaned and re-assembled.
Metal pipes have rubber washer >> always use new rubber washers.
Plastic pipes have plastic washers > plastic washers can be cleaned and re-used.
Plastic washers have flat side that goes toward nut, tapered side away from nut.



When reassembling tubular pipe, we use rectorseal on washers and joints.
Apply good amount on washer just before pushing washer in place and attaching nut.
Apply rectorseal where lower p-trap comes together.
Rectorseal will ensure tubular drain pipes won't leak.

Once disposal rusts out, it needs replacement.
Usually if sink basket seal is broken or if dishwasher attachment is leaking, you can feel water near top of disposal.
Use paper towel at top to see if that area is wet.
If top area is dry, then water is coming from inside disposal, and disposal is rusted out.

If sink seal is still good, we used to buy same brand disposal and re-attach to same sink basket. That's the quick fix.
If this is inside your home, you probably want to install new sink basket that comes with disposal.

To install new disposal, also buy container of plumber's putty to seal sink basket.
Remove disposal.
Clean off old putty on sink. It will chip off easily.
Apply finger-thick amount of plumbers putty to sink opening.
Set disposal sink basket into putty and push down.
Tighten screws on bottom of sink basket.
Wipe away excess plumber's putty from sink so it looks nice and smooth.

Before lifting disposal into place, attach electric wires and attach dishwasher hose to disposal.
Use hammer and screwdriver to remove steel blocker located inside dishwasher stem ... the blocker is left in place if no dishwasher hose is attached.
Disposals can be different: But here's the usual sequence:
Lift disposal with one hand and hold level. Push up strong while rotating attachment ring until ring grabs bottom of sink basket.
If you cannot lift disposal with one hand while rotating attachment ring with other hand, use small bottle jack from auto-parts store. And put piece of wood between bottle jack and aluminum disposal so disposal doesn't break.

Here's how to handle tubular pipes below sink:
Any tubular pipe joint that moved while removing or installing disposal, has to be taken apart, cleaned and re-attached.
If washers are plastic, then clean and re-use.
If washers are rubber, then replace each washer with new rubber washer.
When reattaching tubular pipes, apply generous amount of rectorseal over each plastic or rubber washer for first-time seal of tubular pipes.

If the drain or screen are clogged, the machine may no operate.
Unscrew the the 2 long screws on bottom, remove the basket, there may be a flapper under the basket,

Dishes not cleaned properly....
 

1. Check the water temperature. Should be 125 to 140 F.
   
2. Check pump re-circulation., Listen, see if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.
   
3. Check water level when the fill cycle has completed. Should be just under the heating element. If not, possibly need to replace the water inlet valve.
   
4. Check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks.
   
5. Check to make sure dishwasher is draining after each cycle. There should only be a little water in the bottom of the tub.
   
6. Make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.
   
7. Possibly try a different detergent. Some liquid-gels will bubble and a pump cannot pump bubbles.
   

Your drain is gummed up and it may be the hose too. First remove the trays. Then, clean out everything from the bottom of the inside dishwasher pan. Also clear the drain hole in it. BE CAREFUL THAT YOU DO NOT CUT YOUR SELF ON ANY BROKEN GLASS THAT MAY BE IN THE BOTTOM. Next, go under your sink (or where ever the hose hooks your dishwasher into your drain) remove the hose and clean around both sides of the connections (be sure to replace it exactly how it was to prevent leaks-also check for leaks during and after your first test run). Lastly, run the washer empty using only 1/4 of vinegar. Hope this helps!

Simple don't use the draw which leaks. There is laods of baskets on e-bay

Sounds like you might have coffee oil build up. I would suggest soaking the Brew Head Screen and filter holder in a coffee oil remover by www.urnex.com or dezcal. Remove the screw if your filter basket has one. For home use it would be good to clean this every week or so. You can email me for more info: [email protected]. You also might just try purchasing a new filter basket (along with cleaning the Brew head screen and new basket).
