Cartridge removal without power to unit

IT MIGHT BE THAT THE BLACK INK RAN OUT OF INK SO ITS NOT PRINTING IN BLACK.However try changing the ink cartridge... If you have already done so then remove the ink cartridge and the clean the copper contacts with a lint free cloth... then shake the ink cartridge and then put it back in. then check if it works... if it does not then remove the power chord from the back of the printer without turning off the printer... then press and hold the power button for 30 sec...
then release the power button and then plug in the power chord...
again try printing in black.. if it does not then follow the steps below..
press the setup icon on the printer >> go to tools >> Clean Printhead ...
after it is done again go to setup >> tools >>Align Printer
after it is done check if black prints or not..
if not then Press BL/TL/BL/BL Buttons, in sequence (BL- Bottom Left, TL: Top Left) >>Touch Support Menu>>
Press Right arrow for Reset Menu and Touch OK >>
Press Right arrow for Semiful Reset and Touch OK >>
Wait for unit to Power Down/Turn Off>>
Press Power button to turn the Printer On.
Check if it works or not... if it does not then service the product

From the user guide:
Cartridge Error (1102, 1203, 1204, or 120F)
1 Remove the print cartridges, and close the cartridge carrier lids.
2 Close the scanner unit.
3 Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet.
4 Reconnect the power cord to the electrical outlet.
5 If the button is not lit, press .
6 Reinsert the print cartridges and close the cartridge carrier lids.
7 Close the scanner unit.
If the error does not reappear, the problem has been corrected.
If the problem reappears, one of the cartridges is not working properly. Continue with the following procedure to
determine which cartridge is not working properly.
1 Remove the print cartridges, and close the cartridge carrier lids.
2 Close the scanner unit.
3 Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet.
4 Reconnect the power cord to the electrical outlet.
5 If the button is not lit, press .
6 Reinsert the black (or photo) print cartridge and close the cartridge carrier lid.
7 Close the scanner unit.
8 If the error:
• Reappears, replace the black (or photo) print cartridge with a new one, close the cartridge carrier lid, and close
the scanner unit.
• Does not reappear, reinsert the color print cartridge, close the cartridge carrier lid, and close the scanner unit.
9 If the error reappears, replace the color print cartridge with a new one, close the cartridge carrier lid, and close
the scanner unit

Have you reset the Machine? If not, follow the instructions;
Remove the cartridges, disconnect the usb, switch off, unplug the power chord, leave it off for few minutes. Again switch it On without the cartridges installed and without usb cable connected to it, press the power button several times while it boots up, and leave it on for few minutes, again shut it down using the power button and install the cartridges, connect the usb cable and restart your printer. This will fix your problem if there isn't internal/system failure/faulty.

Start by opening your ink cover and read the LCD screen; this will alert you as to which ink cartridge is not being recognized; make sure the cartridge that it is telling you is empty has been changed.

If the unit is still not recognizing the cartridge you have changed, follow the steps below.

1. Unplug the power cord for the printer unit.
2. Open the ink cartridge cover and remove all ink cartridges.
3. Close the ink cartridge cover.
4. Plug the power cord back in.
5. Reinstall the ink cartridges.

remove the toner cartridge close the door then remove the power cable without switching off the unit
wait 10 seconds plug power cord back in make sure unit powers up and firmly insert the toner cartridge

I just got off the phone with tech support and this is what they told me: Use a Q-Tip with rubbing alcohol to clean the cartridges and the unit where the cartridges go. NEVER have batteries in the unit if you are using an AC adapter. Unplug the cables from your tv and either unplug the unit or remove the batteries. Press and hold the green start button for 15 seconds. Plug everything back in (or put in batteries if you use them). WITHOUT a cartridge in the unit, turn on the power. If it works, turn it off & try it again. If it works a second time, turn it off and put in the game, then power on. NEVER put a game in or take it out with the power on. Put the game in first, then turn on the power. When you are done, turn off the power then remove the game cartrtdge. It worked for me, hopefully it helps you.

Unplug the power cord from the back of the unit ( without turning off the unit ) .
4
Now press the # and 6 key together , while holding these keys down plug in the power cord back into the unit .
5
Do not release the keys after a few seconds u will find te hp logo or bars moving across the screen .wait while the unit turns off.

after one minute turn on the prnter . it will go into alligment phase > let it finish .
7
after its done > try to make a copy .

Note >

in case it does not work try the same steps but take out the cartridges from the unit and insert them when prompted.

As you mentioned you have already done a reset on the printer , may i know how u have done it ? In case u did a power reset like > turning off the printer and turning it on , you can also try the following steps as well .
