I have a XP laptop that used to connect to my Uverse internet

AFter technical support helped my husband connect his work laptop, this older laptop will no longer connect. I can see the wireless network connection, but when I click on it it just waits for the network and then times out and says to see my network administrator. I manually added the laptop to my network and it still wouldn't recognize it!

Sometimes tech support advise to use manual ip address.
check out the work laptop settings. Is it manually configurated ip address?
if so... use the same settings on yours, EXCEPT the ip address itself, use the same gateway, same dns, etc... in the IP address, change only the last octect (last numbers).

My dell laptop needs firewall

Dell now ships all computers ordered through Home and Home Office with software firewalls installed and enabled.

If you have an older Dell PC that did not originally come with a firewall program and you have not already added a separate firewall program to your PC, you will need to purchase a firewall product.

If you are using Windows XP operating system, you can use its built-in firewall called Internet Connection Firewall or Windows Firewall.

If you need any kind of technical assistance to install firewall ,you can contact support cell at http://www.vtechsquad.com/

Hello, Qtsoccerstar -

I believe with Direct TV (and with AT&T Uverse) one must use the company's receiver (which comes with a monthly rental fee.)

Did you call Direct TV Technical Support and state your problem?

This is the number to call:
800-531-5000
Technical Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

You will need to have your Direct TV account number and possibly another ID number handy for when you speak with a Technical Support Representative.

If I misunderstood your question and if you have AT&T Uverse as your provider, this is the number to call:
800-288-2020
Technical Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

For AT&T Uverse you will need to have your account number and an ID number handy.

We have AT&T Uverse for TV, telephone, and Internet service. I know that with AT&T Uverse one MUST have a company provided TV services receiver (which has a monthly rental free.)

Best wishes.

Using linksys wireless router like i have for 10 years, but since getting a new dell E4300 laptop, have not been able to access corporate email withOUT using vpn which isn't typically required. works...

You may have to link up with your IT department at work and have them list your linksys router for access to the corporate network.

This should help.

Internet connection

Hello, Yolie312000 -

I believe you will need to have an AT&T (AT&T Uverse?) technician scheduled to come to your home to check on your WiFi connection.
.
We have AT&T Uverse for our Internet service provider and experienced WiFi speed slowdown a couple of years ago. We telephoned the AT&T service number, spoke with an AT&T Customer Service Representative for technical issues. He scheduled a repair technician who solved our problems.

You will need your account number and PIN when you speak with the Customer Service Representative.

This is the number to call: 800-288-2020.

Best wishes.

New os xp install can'tfigure out how to connect

XP will easily configure the internet system and get it working if you go to the control panel and click "Network" then "Troubleshoot".
If it does not work after that, then one of the accessories is bad or not compatible. It also makes a difference if you connect with a dial-up modem or if using an ethernet card. XP will detect a wireless signal also and configure your modem on newer laptops. Older systems may not have built-in wireless.

UVERSE 2WIRE 802.1 LAPTOP ADAPTER

Try to acquire an address from the router by performing a ipconfig /release command, then ipconfig /renew at the command line. If that doesn't work then you may have to manually enter IP address and DNS address and Default Gateway address in the IP Properties page of your adapter. Could be your present address is using APIPA or Windoze Automatic Private IP Address of 169.254.x.x
