I have a Panasonic PT-47X54J tv, and I'm trying to hook up HDMI with my Xbox 360. I connect the cables, and the picture is pink, with a lot of pink lines going all the way across it, and the picture is just completely messed up
The xbox is fine, i've never plugged anything into that slot. And it's my parents old tv, and they used it on the HDMI setting and it worked fine. Are you sure the lead is ok .have you ever hooked up anything else to the hdmi socket before .you have to find out which is at fault tv or xbox or the lead..good luck

Your picture is small, but it looks like you've got available HDMI jacks on it. if so, connect and HDMI cable between the Xbox360 and you're done! High Def video and audio will be sent to the TV when you select the input that matches the one you've connected the Xbox360 to. More details linked below:
Hook your Xbox to tv via HDMI, then hook TV to reciever through digital optical or composite cables. If you try to get your picture through receiver first, you may get picture and sound but, sound may be delayed and picture might not be the best. Bettter to run through tv first then provide sound to receiver.
Bryan, it looks like you had damaged the HDMI interface chip when the connecter bent. The bending created a short with two of the contacts in the chip.
I had a similar situation where the HDMI cable from the cable box was yanked off without any visible damage. However, the same cable work with the dvd player. In my case the interface in the cable box was damaged. It is not worth the trouble to repair the board.
1) make sure the video cable is firmly inserted into the back of your xbox 360. Sometimes a loose connection will produce this result.
2) Check the end to your television set and make sure it is in correctly. Is this HDMI ??
3) Cycle the inputs on your tv until it gets back to your xbox 360 and see if the picture appears.
4) If you have this hooked up via HDMI, connect it through another method and go into the video settings in your xbox 360 dashboard and set them to auto detect.
use a s-video cable or a monitor ext cable and use fn+f4 to switch
pc mon to ext mon.
n.b. f key is usually f4 , models vary.look for square icon on f key.
fn+ that key; thats fn and say f4 pressed together.
check that the wire coming from the xbox 360 elite to the tv is switched to hd, and the other end of the wire has the red and white for the sound pluged into the tv and that the red green and blue wires are pluged into the tv. also check to see if the hdmi cable to conected to the tv and xbox 360 elite.
