Lg wd-8013c washer door latch broken. Is there an emergency release?

The DE error or fault code indicates that the door is not latching properly. Check the lid or door operation to be sure it's not binding and that the door alignment is correct. Also, check the door/lid hinges to be sure they're not binding. Finally, make sure the door catch is in place and not broken. You may need to replace the door hook/catch or the door lock assembly

This is not an identical one but is another LG that has the same latch setup. Hope these pics help.

The door latch is probably broken. Emergency opening can be done accessing the door latch from the inside of the washer assembly.

Before attempting an emergency opening, disconnect power cord and empty water inside the machine through the filter located at the bottom front side of the machine.

After removing water connect back the machine and try opening again.

If that does not work, then the machine must be disassembled. Most models have an emergency cable located on the inside of the door latch. Pulling the cable will release the latch.
The inside of the door latch is reached either from filter housing or from top of the machine. Either the filter (usually held by screws) or the top panel must be removed to access the inside of the lock mechanism.
Power must be kept off while doing maintenance. Due to the safety issues involved the door latch emergency opening and repair must be done by a trained technician.

Door lock mechanism is probably broken. Also circuit board in powerhead most likely has blown resister R-11.
To get the door open in an emergency, remove the plastic dish on the top of the washer. It should be held in by four screws. underneath you should find a plastic cord that can be pull to release the latch manually and open the door.

Make sure the cycle is complete

How to get the door open:

Thread a shoelace between the door and the front of the machine from the top, over the latch on the middle right and to the bottom. Pull both ends of the shoelace towards the hinge on the left and this will manually pull open the latch with NO DAMAGE. Once open you can access the screws to remove the mechanism and simply buy a replacement.

LG, bloody hopeless support and no simple way to rectify this problem in the manual when it's so easy once you know.

The washer is empty and cant open the door

You may have a failed door latch.  Have it replaced and it should be ok.
