I own a samsung vpd361i camcorder. i want to transfe the data from tape to cd or dvd on my pc. what is required

Tapes recorded on one camcorder very rarely play back satisfactorily on another machine - you will have to use your old camcorder to view them, or else get them transferred to DVD

You do not need drivers to get the footage from tape to a Mac. You do require a firewire cable and use iMovie or Final Cut to capture.

One DVD disc is about 1.5 hours. You have five times this amount of data, so that is 5 discs. One DVD disc will store 4.2 GB of data. You do the math.

so what CD??? CD-R recordable, CD-RW?
No PC stated. NO OS stated ,wow.
just DC3000 and some kind of VHS tape?
My guess bad media. (CD-r)
or the drive it self is bad.
or as all XP are , virus infected,

Connect the camera to the Mac with the firewire cable.
Open iMovie and capture the required footage.

find it hard to believe that this device will burn dvd's as it will only burn cd's you require a dvd writing device to burn and read dvd's data or video with 3rd party software such as nero or nti

Well that is like you say an old camera, mind you 8mm is still far the best and safest way to store your valued films as it has kept the data on those tapes longer than any DVD ever did, remember unlike we thought 10 years ago a DVD only has around 8 to 10 years life span, we are finding CD & DVD productions that are over 8 years old just wont play any longer.
Kodak put a report on the net 7 years ago that they found even some quite costly DVD recorded media had gone blank and refused to play after a very short time in storage.
I think you ought to look around Ebay, find a nice HI8 digital camera, put your loved tapes in that, plug the new Firewire cable into the camera, and your PC and download your treasured items to another media like DVD.
Keep your 8mm tapes in a draw safe though because they will out-live all DVD recordings I can honestly say that.

Hi do u have memory card insert that card into a card reader or in laptop in build option is there for memory card select the path were urs data is there dump it on your pc and make data disc by nero

does your camcorder requires a tape or dv tape? or memory stick because, almost all camcorder(not all) they have their own external slot like dv tapes, dvd, cd, memory sticks, etc.. maybe you didnt insert some of those. if you have then maybe the configuration on your camcorder got a problem. try to set it. hope that helps!

Pinnacle Studio Plus V.9 can only be used for editing DV and not HDV however Pinnacle Studio Plus V.11 can be used to edit both DV and HDV.
