I have an encore wireless USB adapter that won't work.

I have a new e-machine W3611 and bought the Encore 801.11 USB adapter and when I try to connect I get a message that my computer radio is "turned off" Linksys support says hit the Fn and F2 buttons, but I don't have a Fn button. Gateway/ eMachines say they can't help since I have a non-Gateway wireless adapter. The link they gave for Encore somehow led me to you.

Hi did the usb adaptor come with software or not also have you tried letting you computer scan for hardware devices.
As its usb it should be plug and play
Is the adaptor for sending data from things like phone etc via bluetooth they are usuall plug and play and reqiure no setup try reinstalling software and if still dont work try scanning for hardware devices and then let it search for the software for you.

I can't make my ENUWI-SG USB work!

Some old laptops only have USB1 ports. The G adapter may be a #2 or #3 USB device. If the laptop is a ONE, the connection is too slow to adapt to a modern speed of G or N. You may have to use direct wire from the modem to the laptop in order to communicate with the internet.

Make sure you are connected to YOUR wifi network. You may have connected to a more distant & slower router.

Try your USB adapter to another pc to check if it still works. If yes, maybe you should uninstall then reinstall its application and driver. I think this type have an auto detect.
