If its new then you must not have issue with it, if the configuration they gave is already setup and nothing missing, it should be ok.

If the electrical issue is true, then you try to use AVR or other power supply for your modem.
You can also try to plug it in different place and try to connect with it (even without internet) to test if its really the electrical thing causing you this headache.

"Rebooting the modem by itself is not normal" (possible hardware cause).
Otherwise, you should ask for its warranty or replacement.

its possible thats its not properly configured :like time out is not set to zero or higher,2nd:probably needs an upgrade for software version,3rd better contact your isp provider to check if line issue,....however if isp says not line issue then most probably it just needs to be reconfigured so i strongly recommend you could call your isp or att since there tech support for it...i hope you'll have it fixed already

The drivers are located on the 2wire website. You need to go to support > downloads > Gateways > 100/1000. Those drivers will work for any 2wire gateway that has USB.

Modem keeps loosing connectivity. I have to turn off the modem and restart it to access the internet. Running 2Wire Gateway.

call your internet service provider and report first this incident. in most cases its with the service provider that has problem causing disconnection in your internet.

Take a look also with your modem device, observe when you got disconnected does led indication lamp turn off or your modem restarted itself. that could also be a problem with the power supply of your modem. better check with multitester if output voltage from power supply is dropping.

go check also the ethernet cable if this is not loose, fix it properly, you should hear a snapping sound means it is lock properly.

I just bought a SpeedStream 4100 modem

if you brought the wireless new from a vendor. you don't need to configure it. unless you want to.
but if you brought a used one (in you case). you have to configure it. You need to get inside (software wise) of the modem. to do that you need login name and password to start with. if you don't have it, please call or e-mail the guy you brought the modem from.
then you have to configure the security for the wireless, unless you want everyone under sun to access your modem via wireless.
search on the web, you should come away with a user manual for the unit.

Modem keep rebooting.

It sounds like you have a bad modem. Have you tried to plug the device into a different power outlet? This will rule out that it's a possible power issue in the outlet.

If no change by trying a different outlet I would replace modem.

Hope this helps.

2wire router

ANOTHER COMMON ISSUE: If your modem keeps restarting once the power LED turns solid green, the most likely cause is the power adaptor. Replace the power adaptor and all should be well again.
