How to Enable Sound Driver

My computer is saying that my sound driver is working properly but is disabled. How do I enable it?

Your "on-board" sound should be disabled in CMOS. If your "new" card is showing up in Device Manager, all you should have to do is load the appropriate drivers for it. Go to the manufacturers web site and download the latest drivers for the card you have. The computer shop should have done all this for you.

My sound is not working its been turn off and I can't fix it. The icon at the bottom of screen is showing an x on sound icon when I try to fix it it say no sound device on computer.
You need to reinstall your sound card drivers. This software driver is available in your CD installer shipped with your laptop. Try to look for it and install it and see if your laptop will have sound.

Also, before trying to reinstall your sound driver, it is also logical if you could check if it is just "disabled" in the device manager. If you can enable it, it should fix your problem the easiest way.

  1. Right click on your "My Computer" icon on your desktop and click "Properties"
  2. Click on the Hardware Tab
  3. Click the "Device Manager" button.
  4. On the "Device Manager" window, click on the plus "+" sign near "Sound, video and game controllers".
  5. Make sure that NO sound device is disabled. If there is, ENABLE it. (Click it to select then click the "enable" button above.
