Paloma C-7 error

Turning off and back on worked yesterday--but not today. There was an interruption to electrical supply last week due to storm. Could that be causing the problem? And what is cure?

Remove power source from the unit. If remote control is installed; remove cover and lift the control wires on the terminal...can be accomplished from either end.

Restore power and see if unit functions normally.

Contact Paloma/Rheem customer (800-432-8373) support and notify them IF you are getting a code "76" error. Rheem has recently extended the warranty on the "Burner Control Assm."; which is your problem. The C4-C8 portion of the error code, is where the unit stops the ignition process...burner fails to light, or gives you intermittent hot water. In either case, contact customer support.

If this helps, please indicate so.

Multiple error codes can mean different things, including bad PC board.
C2 13 might be the oxygen sensor. -0 and no operation indicates bad board, but other things might be notched into same problem like loose connections.
Error codes are starting point for troubleshooting.

I have error codes "C2"

Open following error-code link in downloadable pdf for your files:
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Paloma-Tankless-Error-Codes.pdf

Error code 11 has to do with ignition/gas/gas pressure/electrical grounding.
This can be caused by internal part failure or combination of internal or external factors.
I suggest reading pdf, and then calling service technician who specializes in your brand.

Open typical manual to review required regular maintenance for tankless on page 29
The word maintenance is used throughout manual, indicating that tankless are a yearly budget nuisance

All costs are energy.
You can also add simple tank-type water heater that can be turned on when tankless is on the blink.

I have replaced both elements on my 808 in the last year. one of them had a significant amount of white scale bonded to it. the other nothing. my hardware store guy says this is normal for the water...

Open the heating element covers and confirm that the wire connections at the terminals are secure. A loose connection could account for tripping the circuit breaker and the element not working (no heat). I have no idea why you had the sound of water ruching into the tank unless the cold water supply was interrupter before that. Mineral build up would not ground the lower element since they are electrically insulated (if not, the water would serve as a ground anyway). The only other scenario regarding the element would be if it failed, which seems unlikely if this was the element that you replaced two weeks ago. My best guess is that you have a loose terminal connection or that the thermostat is bad.

Paloma tankless ptg42 water heater error code c4/13

4 error message, the 4th (last) error code is #13, not enough oxygen.

Check the location of the heater, if it is fine the ODS sensor (actually is a thermal couple) is bad.

PALOMA PTG-74PVN-1 Code C8 12 my water heater

C8 is the last stop in the point of burner ignition and a total of eight error codes. Error code 12 is a supplemental code that means your LP gas supply is too low...have your LP tank service and try again.

Tankless water heater (Paloma) Has C2 11 error

I had this problem with the C2 11 error code. My unit is 1.5 years old. I called Paloma and they emailed me an 11 page document to clean the burners. I am not an HVAC but I got the feeling that's who the instructions were for. Very difficult but you can do it if you're handy. You basically take apart 1/2 the unit, be carfull not to lose any screws and label all the little brackets that come off. It took me 2-3 hours to get to the burners. I used a can of air (for keyboards-electronics) to blow on the burners and clear any build up. After putting it back together (carefull to make sure the 3 gas tubes make a seal when re-installed) the unit works. I did this today so I'm not sure the unit will still work in a week/month. I am dreading having to do this every year to keep the unit running.

What does C2 11 error code mean on my Paloma Tankless Water Heater.

I had the same problem with my Paloma a year and a half after installation...contacted Rheem customer service (800-432-8373) and they recommened a local installer in my area. However, if you're fairly capable, they will email you a step-by-step process on how to solve the problem yourself. They'll provide assistance through the process over the phone as well.
