We have an LX250 gas fired pool & spa heater which was installed a little over a year ago. If the filter pump stops for any reason (usually leaves blocking it or reduced water level in the pool) the boiler doesn't automatically switch off. We think there should be an electrical link to trip out the boiler if the pump stops rather than the heating process continuing. Can you recommend an engineer to come and look at this. Our postcode is GU35 0NZ. Thanks! Pam Evans

You most certainly have a potentially hazardous condition. there is a pressure switch that is suppose to detect low or no water flow and interrupt burner operation.i suspect it is out of adjustment. there is a section in the owner manual that details adjustment procedure.it is actually quite simple to do,but if you not want to tackle this ,i would suggest not using the heater until it is looked at.

My Hayward H400 will not turn on

Does the heater sound like it is trying to fire? (Fan on, clicking sound). Check your filter pressure. If it is high, it may be causing the heater not to fire because the heater doesn't know the pump is running.

My Laars LX pool heater would shut off soon after it fires up

This error is Automatic Gas Shutdown. Here is what you can do:

  1. Check for fluctuating pump pressure (air in strainer, pressure guage bounce)
  2. Check all wiring connections
  3. Replace ignitor/flame sensor assembly
Depending on your expertise, it could also be the gas valve or ignition control (aka the IID).

Since the burners do fire briefly, I would suspect the flame sense rod first. Attached is a link to the owners manual in PDF.

Lo Nox heaters can be a little tough so follow the directions exactly.

Jandy lx250 heater is giving me service code ags

AGS automatic gas shut down
which means you have ignition failure, which can be from low gas pressure, or volume. if the heater fires then goes out the signal is not going back to the control module check all wiring.
