It seems that the card reader if the computer is not detecting the card. Make sure that the memory card you use is supported. The multi-in-one card reader on the Aspire One can read and write to Secure Digital card (SD), Secure Digital High Capacity card (SDHC), MultiMediaCard (MMC), Memory Stick (MS), Memory Stick PRO (MS PRO), and xD-Picture Card (xD). Specific models of the Aspire One are also equipped with an SD Expansion slot that can read and write to Secure Digital (SD) and Secure Digital High Capacity card (SDHC) cards. The multi-in-one card reader on the Aspire One can read and write to miniSD, microSD, Memory Stick Duo,and Memory Stick PRO Duo cards but require the use an adapter. Acer does not provide or support any memory card adapters. You can try removing the card reader using the device manager and the reinstall it and check the operation. You may also try using the card is different computer and check. Also try using another card in the computer with the issue and check. If the issue is not resolved please revert back with the model number. Click on the link for the information to Reinstall a Device http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc725782.aspx
If you have not used this card with this laptop before it is possible there is an incompatibility with the card type and the reader. SDHC cards are generally no compatible with card readers built into laptops. IT is due to the compression algorithm used to increase the storage capacity on the card. There is no PHYSICAL difference the higher storage capacity is made possible by configuring the way data is stored and revision 1.0 of card readers arent compatible. Try going to Acer and downloading a newere version of the card reader software if this doesnt work, try an older version card if possible.
normally this is a dummy card to prevent trash from getting in the slot. you should be able to push all the way in and when it pops back out remove it. (just like a sd card)

http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_5510.html select the card reader driver on the windows Vista line ..and download ..extract and install ..in 80 cases from 100 the driver fits for windows7 ..its the only way cause it is missing the driver thats the problem ...if it wont work ...you will have to get a cheap external usb reader for the sd card ..to use in the computer ..cause they do not have drivers in this model for windows 7 yet ..
Did you ever solved your problem? I noticed the above response is just a spam ad.
I have same problem with Aspire 3680. I recently replaced the HDD and reinstalled Vista Home, all drivers from Acer has been loaded. I even updated the BIOS, updated Vista service packs and all patches.
Sent email to Acer, but of course they want $60 per 1/2 hour. And from the past experience it will take about 2 hours on the phone. Also they have no support forum, and support sucks.
So I'm still stumped. This SD problem with Acer is the only one I couldn't resolve of all brands I've worked on.
i had this problem so i put my SD card in the reader and restarted my laptop as soon as it logged on it said installing new device now the card reader works everytime
