The DCR-TRV140 records and plays back Digital * tapes only.

Is it the Viewfinder or LCD that does not display an image?
Try hooking the camera to a TV to confirm.

The camcorder has detected an issue that may require a power reset.

1. Turn off the camcorder.
2. Remove the battery or disconnect the AC power adapter for 60 seconds.
3. Insert the battery or reconnect the AC adapter.

Many parts are still available on these camcorders however if it needs a video head for example, and it's not avaiable it may be a better idea to get another 8mm camcorder off ebay, or maybe a pawn shop. just test them with a new blank tape first before putting your family tapes in.

i have thi problem to it is the x700 sony one :/

The C31:22 error message means that the reels are not turning, or that the sensing mechanism for the reels is not functioning. You can reach a finger inside the mechanism and see if you can freely rotate the reels. If the reels rotate freely, then you have a drive problem. If you cannot rotate the reels, make sure they are not bent in any way. If none of this helps, you will need to have a technician look at the unit. Please be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!

1. I removed the battery. 2. With the power switch On position and holding the tape ejected I inserted the battery back on & it ejected the stuck tape.

sad to say that the problem of your camera is the timing gear is already damage....it need to disassembly the camera to fix the timing gear....go to the qualified service center for fixing or replacing the timing gear..

This is a S reel fault. Remove the cassette,battery,cables. Re load all now and try the operation.
