Does anyone know the year or range of years that the Sharp Model SJ-45E-WH came out in? I want to know whether it's pre 1996, or post 1996.

You have a defrost problem. You need either the defrost timer, defrost heater, or the defrost bi-metal. If you have a meter you can ohm out the heater and the bi-metal ( as lonh a s the bi -metal is frozen as it opens when it gets warm to cut out the defrost heater) if you have an ohm reading on either one of the two the replace the defrost timer, if you don't then replace the part that has no ohm reading.

I have a Sharp Fridge-Freezer, model SJ-F78SP-BK. The Fridge compartment freezes. If left on overnight, everything will freeze as if it had been left in the freezer. Freezer is working fine.

Hi,

please increase the temperature in the fridge portion of your fridge as it sounds like you've set that compartments temperature too low.

Thank you.

Sharp fridge SJ-55G-WH drain blocked.

Category moved from Sharp Computers.

Pull it out and at the back there is a tube with a sort of a U-Bend just below the freezer. Remove it, soak in bleach and hot water, and then flush through.

Freezer is frost free yet it is icing up its a refridgerator

I would recommend that you turn either the freezer down or the fridge. This is somewhat normal, even frost free units will produce some frost, and this is mainly due to the temperature being too cold. Some minor adjustments and you will be fine.

Fridge not getting cold enough

The cold from the freezer is piped up to the refrigerator and if that tube gets clogged with frost or ice it will not be able to blow to the cold air into the refrigerator area. I took everything out, unpluged the unit for about 6 hours, till all the frost from the freezer was gone, wiped up all moisture and turn it back on. It worked!

Freezer in nice and cold but refridgerator is not

due to lots of moisture in the air or high humidity it creates extra frost in the freezing unit this creates blockage in the air flow once the ice crystals build up. the freezer is what keeps the fridge at the normal temperature if the air flow between the two are blocked in the ducting then the fridge temperature will rise the best way to solve this is to open the freezer take out the 4 screws in the back panel tilt the panel forward and blow it with a blow dryer till the ice chunk has melted its a good idea to use a towel and on the top self of the fridge to obsorb excess water this can be kinda messy. or you can unplug your fridge for about 6 or so hours. good luck hope i helped. :)

Fridge not holding tempreture

if there is frost present on the rear vertical wall of the freezer compartment then the defrost function is broken and needs to be repaired the freezer is like an ice block and yo get cooling up to the refridgerator compartment air has to be able to flow and that can't happen if the frost is not eliminated

Fan running but not keeping cold

check to see if the compressor is running, if not you may need a start kit, (relay, overload) If the compressor is running take the back freezer panel off and check to see if there is a frost pattern, might be out of gas if frost pattern has receeded

Kenmore Elite bottom freezer refridgerator

I just went through this with my refridgerator and actually posted one of the questions. Here is what I found ........

In the freezer compartment behind the panel there is an evaporator fan which pulls cold air from the freezer and pushes it up into the refrridgerator compartment. If the fan is not working it is one of three things.. 1) there is so much frost in the fan area the fan blade is stopped and cannot push the cold air into the refridgerator compartment or the air channel is blocked. 2) there is no electricity going to the fan (usually tied to the door switch of the refirdgerator compartment, and 3) the motor is dead and will have to be replaced.

Solution to #1 - defrost but there is another problem in the "frost-free" part of the system which must be addressed or the frost will return and it will happen again in the future.

Solution #2 - check to see there is power to the fan. (most are 110VAC but some are 100VDC. Use a meter and check)

Solution #3 - If there is power, the motor is dead. Replace the motor. Be aware that AC and DC motors are different and replace per manufacture's specifications.
