I use a dl 514 router. the computer shows a wireless connection and a strong signal but i'm not able to get online. now that I'm using a cable, it still shows a wireless connection with a strong signal.

mcdevito75 here, Your wireless as all wireless depnds on Satalight position, depending on where you live, the signal could be weak at times. Just as your signing on to connect your wireless to the internet, click on up-dates. You can also contact your wireless provider (maker of your wireless) for additional info. Hope this helps.

Please ask you ISP to run the line test on your line. The DSL signals are not strong.

Are you trying to set up router ?
You can set up your router manually, without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

After connecting all the cables, restart the modem, then the router, and the computer. If that doesn't work, use your internet connection wizard

check if the computer has the DNS service started, check if the lan connection is enable.

Perhaps the reason it has been sitting around at work for some time is that someone just didn't have the heart to throw it away after it went afoul?

Try resetting the thing by removing power, pressing in the little reset button on the back, holding that button in whilst re-applying power. Hold it in for 30 seconds after you plug it back in. That should cause the unit to reset.

You need to do some reconfiguration on your router by using the setup cd or by manually configuring it using the user interface of the router.

You can't get an IP address on the Xbox that way. You need to get an IP address from a device that works as a DHCP server such as a residential router. Connecting the Xbox to the PC will do nothing for you.
